So the person who sold it to you by accident on ebay raised the offer to return it to him to a million yet?

Lay off the booze, your google page will get blurry and you won't be able to answer any questions on this forum.

You can use Sn0wbreeze 2.0 to upgrade to 4.1 without upgrading your baseband. That way you don't have to mess with fuzzyband.

http://www.crispytech.com/2010/09/23/jailbreak-iphone-3g-4-1-on-windows-with-sn0wbreeze-2-0-1/

Or use redsn0w 0.9.6 and the 4.1 ipsw file from the iclarified website.

Could you do me a favor and post what the first 5 digits of the serial number for your phone are? Thanks.

my serial number? sure.

5k009, its refurb though, my first iphone which was supposedly brand new ran slow and shut off randomly, the refurb is actually doing alright :p

my serial number? sure.

5k009, does that mean my phone was made in 09? :D

It means the 9th week of 2010. Some people say that 5K means it has been refurbed which seems likely because of the early bootloader version you have. Some people say that the 5K thing is a myth. Where did you get the phone and do you know if it is a refurb (did you purchase it as a refurb)?

ETA
I see your edit has answered my question, thanks.

Well according to Applejuiced you have a very rare phone. Only 5% of all 3G phones have the 5.08 bootloader. It is so uncommon and rare that we shouldn't advise people to check and see if they have that version so they can change their baseband and unlock;)
It must be worth its weight in gold.:D

lol i dunno, even though the 3g is just 2 years old, with a 3gs and iphone 4 it looks like a dinosaur!!

but im glad i got the refurb unlockable one. :D thanks

btw, ive had so many bad experiences with snowbreeze i dont feel safe with it at all =/ might just wait for a pawnage tool or an unlock

I edited my previous post with another option: Use redsn0w 0.9.6 and the 4.1 ipsw file from the iclarified website.

redsnow updates the baseband to the most current one =/ does the iclarified website have some custom firmware with an unlockable baseband?

I just installed fuzzyband 4.1 from Cydia on one of my 3G's that has the 5.08 bootloader and 4.1 firmware and it works fine. It will change the 5.14.02 baseband to 5.13.04 then you use ultrasn0w.

The source is BigBoss.
Not sure what you want to see screen shots of....

When I ran fuzzyband it says:

Bootloader version:
05.08 [G2M3S2]

Baseband Version:
ICE2-05.13.04

iphone OS Version:
4.1.0

You're ready for Ultrasn0w!

Under setting in my phone it confirms the modem firmware is 05.13.04.

Are you using the newest version of fuzzyband (4.1-1)?
I'm not sure why it isn't showing you your bootloader or Baseband versions.
Download F0recast and see what it says, fuzzyband is moot if you don't have the 5.08 bootloader.

I just downloaded Fuzzyband and found I have the 05.08 bootloader, downgraded and the phone crashed whilst running Fuzzyband. The phone then rebooted only allowing emergency calls with the connect to iTunes image.

After connecting to iTunes and restoring to a custom 4.1 firmware the phone shows no baseband and says no wifi and no bluetooth and will reboot after a minute.

Any ideas how to recover?

UPDATE:
Updating the firmware via iTunes (not using a custom firmware) has successfully updated the baseband.
