By the way, I was easily able to do the Verizon promotion via Apple. First select Apple trade. The number will be the smaller Apple number at first. Then when you select Verizon monthly for payment, the trade number will go up to match the numbers in this thread. And the trade will be handled by Apple.
$800, or $1,000? I seem to be offered $800 at Apple (and only if I pay monthly), but $1,000 at Verizon, and I can pay in full.

Only $800 for high tier. But I traded in a low tier, and it seems that for low and mid, it's the same $400 and $800.

When you paid in full, do you still get the credits over 24/30 months?

Credits are still paid out that way even if you pay in full. Definitely not worth it in that case.

im on the basic unlimited plan, and to me it wasn’t worth upgrading and gaining seemingly nothing (5G too spotty IMO still, would have it off for battery reasons anyways) for an extra 10/mo for the higher tier plan (240 extra for the 24 months)

it then came down to getting 450 for the XS max from Verizon vs 329 from Apple

chose apple to avoid any carrier headache, wasn’t worth the price difference at that point

fwiw I ended up paying outright to avoid the hard credit check being my first time on IUP

Wait, I'm trying to check out at Verizon with this $1000 promo, and it seems like it's only available if I'm adding a new line. Is that right?

I completed an order for my mother about an hour ago. Verizon is shady a bit on how they word those promotions. She was on Start Unlimited and on that plan the promo benefit is reduced from $800 to $300 (she had Xr for trade-in for 13). In her case, it was more beneficial to bump up to Play More Unlimited for $10 more a month to get full $800 trade-in credit. We will downgrade the plan after 24 months, so essentially for her the phone wasn't truly 0$ but $240 - plus taxes and activation fee.

5G, I assume? If so, do you happen to know the monthly cost?
Sorry i’m not sure i understand the question. If you’re on Premium data (5G plan aka Play, Do, Get) and trade in an 11 pro or 11 pro max then you get $1,000 off iPhone 13 Pro or 13 Pro Max. Upgrades and new lines.

Is there really a $1,000 promo for the 11 Pro Max, though? That's kinda nutty. Might be worth being locked in for such a crazy price...

Yep, it's actually $1000 for the 11 pro (non max). I traded in my wife's 11 pro and got 1k credits, meaning my monthly payment will be $0 for 24 months.

Nope, I got this deal with upgrading an existing line. I did both my upgrades with Verizon's sales dept as I wanted to make sure no mistakes were made, they were great.

Same here. I got $2000 by upgrading 2 existing lines and trading in 2 X 11 Pros for 13 Pro Maxes.

Hi so i actually work for Verizon so let me help!

I can't speak to what apple is doing through their website but if you buy it through Verizon:

If you're on the following unlimited plans:

Play More, Do More, Get More, Above and Beyond:

Then your iPhone X is worth $1,000 off the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max. Or $800 off iPhone 13. In other words, you're not gonna get MORE than what the phone is worth.

SO the 13 Pro 256 you want for $1099 will be only $99 or $4.16/month for 24 months. Technically you're not supposed to know about the $1,000 promotion so i'd suggest doing it though Verizonwireless.com

I wasn’t going to upgrade any of my devices (mine or family devices) due to what seemed like not overly great deals but you posting this changed that from 0 upgrades to 3 upgrades last night. Thank you for posting this as I probably wouldn’t have even looked yesterday otherwise.

Awesome! happy to help! i’m sure my overlords at verizon are glad you did!😂

I'm with Verizon and I have the right Unlimited Data plans.

I'm curious, are you able to trade in whatever phone and then pay off the full balance? So trade-in $800 of a device and then pay in full the reminder of the chosen device? What happens in a year when the 14 comes out?

I know it's locking you in 2-years+ depending but any wiggle room when the 14 comes out? Just curious.

Thanks.

The $800 is divided into $33.33/month credits so if you want to upgrade in a year you’d loose out on half of the credits. If you want the full $800 you can’t upgrade until the full 24months.

I didn’t go through he Verizon I went directly through apple and got an unlocked phone. How can I set it up with my Verizon plan? Do I just insert the sim? Do I have to give them a call?

If you have a 5G sim in your current phone then you can just move the sim into the new phone. If it’s not 5G you can still move it over to activate it but you’ll need to go to a verizon store sometime to have them swap it out for a 5G sim.

Hi Bp778814,

Thanks for the replies and info in this thread and associated direct answer.

So if I chose to upgrade to the 14 in a years time then I'd owe half the credits? I'm trying to fully understand what burden would be if I wanted to upgrade in a year but I'm tempted to move off my XS Max to a 13 Pro Max so I'm trying to weigh everything out with knowledge. I appreciate any information.

From what I understand, I talked to a rep and preordered (ip13pro)with Verizon, you get 1000 off for an iPhone 11 Pro trade in, as long as you have the mid tier unlimited plan, which is like $70 a month. As it says above u need to keep it for the allotted time or you may lose the credits (u may wanna double check that). I think the reason is they want people to upgrade to the 5G network and they are making a push now to do that and get people out of their 4G phones

Correct, you would have to pay off the remaining “balance” which is the 2nd half of the credits. So about $400 depending on your promotion.

I am shaking my head at this and people jumping at the $1000. If you already have the most expensive plan Verizon offers and will not trade for 2 and a half years then yes this is a good deal. But for some it is not worth it. I work from home and use less than 10% of my data allowed monthly. Even if I travel which I have twice already this summer each time more than a week and have not come close to my data limit (I write a travel blog on cruising on several platforms several times a day while traveling). Been with Verizon before it was Verizon. My monthly charge is $35.00 plus tax. I trade phone every two years but like to have them paid off within a few months. Verizon would not allow me to make extra payments toward the phone, it is either pay it all in full or go the full 24 or 30 months. Then it's a pain when you want to trade in/upgrade. I got out of the Verizon rat race when I bumped up to the 11Pro Max they wanted me to change my plan then. Not going to do it. Apple card lets me pay off what I owe them in a few months and still get my full credit. By Verizon bumping up my plan I have just lost the saving they are giving me. Trust me there is ALWAYS a catch. It only works if you are already paying Verizon the big bucks. OK so I cannot use the 5G my new phone is capable of but really...how often would I use it? I just hope people are not jumping foolishly seeing $1000 and in the end they are really just giving the money back to to Verizon because they are locked into a plan they do not need or will use.
