Consumer Reports has often been criticized for their testing methods in the past on a variety of products. I recall a comparison of CD players many years ago where they said that all CD players sound the same, so just buy the one with the best price and warranty. Didn't they recommend the same Toyota models that, apparently, had sticking throttles?

CR is not the end-all, be-all when it comes to product reviews and, occasionally, some of their biases show through.

This is true. Consumer Reports has recommended pretty much every single Apple product in their electronics issues for many years. The iMac, Macbook Pro and iPod have reigned in most of the comparison tests, and the iPhone's only downside IIRC has been ATT according to CR. Their bias historically has been towards Apple (because of their great products) which is why I think that there has been so much buzz about them not recommending the iPhone 4.
