Are you using a VPN? When I have issues like yours (not necessarily FindMy) it's usually the VPN blocking stuff. Just putting out there for you. Hopefully you'll get it sorted there's nothing more frustrating than something that should 'just work' and it doesn't.
No VPN.

Thanks for your kind words.

I had this problem too (went almost crazy ...) and finally solved it following these steps:
  1. open Terminal:defaults read MobileMeAccounts
  2. sudo diskutil verifyVolume /
  3. power off Mac and long press power button, get into the Disk Utility, click the First Aid to the System Data Disk, then restart the Mac
Hope it helps

Thanks, I’ll try.

I’ve already tried First Aid, also in Safe Mode.

A new Apple tech support bod has now taken ownership of my case.

Spoke with him today, and he is saying “it could take weeks to be resolved.”

To be blunt, I think he is pulling figures out of the air.

I can’t believe this hasn’t been solved by now.

So much for Apple and “it just works.”

Very disappointed.

sorry for your poor support experience, that is just not acceptable, so I totally understand your disappointment.
At the same time, imho Find My for a Mac is not a critical feature/function, so if it takes longer to resolve it, it does not stop you from using your Mac on a day-to-day basis, so for me, your statement "... it just works" is a little harsh. If an iPhone or any mobile device were affected by this, different story ... just my 2 cents/pennies

You would change your mind if you needed it to find your Mac :)

Might not be that way for the poster because it doesn't "just work" bet your's does :)

Hello mate.

I haven't tried what @ChrisChaval suggested.

I didn't want to mess about with Terminal.

I may give it a go at some point, after I hear from the Apple tech support fellow tomorrow.
Indeed, terminal if you do the wrong thing you can risk ruining your iMac. 🖥️

I applaud 👏 your cooperation with following up with the AppleCare adviser

the backup advice is very valid, please do this before trying anything

Time Machine never worked for you? did you try backups to an external drive? I do regular tm backups to two different external nvme drives

Hello Chris.

I’m saying the method for fixing the Find My error never worked.

have you tried this?

Open Terminal and run:
killall bird (this restarts the iCloud sync process that handles Find My)
