This is an internet board, if you don't like what people have to say, don't read it.
 
This is the internet not preschool. If you don't like something don't keep reading on. Why should this site be wasting time babysitting every little detail that a few people don't like. Just grow a thicker skin and move on.

95% of the internet doesn't have morals. Why should this site be any different. Life is full of people swearing but you don't go up to them and tell them they have no morals do you?

Honestly, people don't swear around me. They know not to. You can't have something like that on the internet. Also in real life you can avoid people that are not worth being around . It is not the same here on the interwebz.

The site has rules so they should be enforced, deleting more words won't stop the rules from being broken. Maybe if we get rid of the people that are breaking the rules everyone would be better off.

I'd deal with it. That's what people do, except the vast majority of the millennium generation since they were raised in a ridiculous manner.

You don't know everyone around you at all times though do you. Just like you don't know everyone on this forum. If you don't like what people are saying just don't listen to them.

You choose to be offended by what you see and hear. I have people who talk using much more colorful words every day at my school. You just have to let it go sometimes.

Must be fortunate. I have worked in shipyards and oil rigs where you learn to just roll with it and oh yea, your coworkers don't give 2 cents what you think of their word choice

Uhhh, what? It's a hell of a lot easier to avoid being around those who are not worth being around on the internet than it is in real life. If you don't think the members on this forum are worth being around, then stop coming here. It's that simple.
 
I don't think there's any big yet friendly forum out there. Smaller forums tend to be more friendly from my experience. It seems to me big and friendly are contradictory in the world of forums. Maybe serious banning of hostile members (which means ~50% of total members) would diminish the member count far enough to make things friendlier again.

The fact is, this was a much less hostile forum before the iPhone came out. It was a huge forum then and people played nice. It survived the transition to Intel and an influx of gasp, Windows people.

The iPhone opened the site up to a lot more people, the vast majority of them very young and IMO, stupid. Look around at the threads. These damn kids can't make simple life decisions. Their parents ought to be shot. Sad.

You're right. I didn't take it offensively because I agree that the millennium generation, myself included, is strong in some areas, but weak in netiquette and a lot more things.
 
Seriously though, you guys are being way to sensitive on this topic, the more a word is used the less weight it will ultimately carry, if everyone in the world said f!$! all the time, no one would ever be offended because its so common. same with any other word, including "douche". Don't ban it because if you do the more weight it'll carry, and in all honesty, douche isn't really a bad word.
