Threads like these are what make the Internet worth reading. Thanks for the laughs. Shouldn't the name of this thread be called "Can we please censor the word "******"?"

I'm inclined to think that the amount of insults will go down once the iPhone mania slows. A whole bunch of noobs brings down the maturity level quite a bit.

Honestly, people don't swear around me. They know not to. You can't have something like that on the internet. Also in real life you can avoid people that are not worth being around . It is not the same here on the interwebz.

That's ridiculous. On here you can put someone on your ignore list. It doesn't get any better than that.

Maybe simply a drunk filter on new posts with a simple skillz test to see if booze hasn't reduced you to the IQ of a peanut.

I think it's more that folks don't have the vocabulary, self-respect, or basic respect for others to keep from using grade school-level terms and/or insults.

Trust me, If i cared to, I could melt the forums with not only disgustingly filthy, but also original and creative commentary and rejoinders. (I'm a professional with decades of experience with this. Don't try this at home).

The difference is that I (and many others) prefer to actually use our brains instead of being, well, potty-mouthed juveniles. But sadly, that's what comprises much of the active participation on the Internet.
Is it necessary? No. Does it offend me? No. Do I even read any of those posts? Also no, I've got everything iPhone-related turned off anyway.

just had to step in and say that i much prefer to use douche-nozzle over douche bag. personal preference i suppose...

and i have to agree with what JNB said above, thus contradicting myself. ;)

Ok. Let's say I started to call you names, while using bad words. What you your reaction be?

I'd click this button ->

There are a lot of people in this thread being oversensitive and illogical. Use of the word "douche" is not an issue unless you don't report the post in question. Context is king.

I think the main issue here is the minors here who don't seem to give a damn about anyone but themselves. they think using that language is cool or hip. Its not. What makes matters even worse is when you hide behind your computer screen,

I have read that book. It's not the word that bothers me. It's its constant use by teenagers on this forum.

I'm 15 and i haven't said the word once. I don't think you should just stereotype us after seeing a few rotten apples ( or should i say iPhone 4g's  ) There are plenty of adults who use language like that.

I think censoring the word "iPhone" would do a lot in cleaning up this mess.

OP, I hope you understand that censoring the word is not the answer here. Words should not be censored just because they are used often and might offend or bother someone.

People call other people all sorts of names, douche, is not the least bit offensive. It just means someone is a douche.

Now attacking another forum member is another situation, as discussed in previous posts by others.

I'm 16 and I have never used that word( except for on this thread title), but I think that we can agree that it is our people that are the biggest users of that word.

And here I was planning on starting up a serious thread about the pros and cons surrounding various types of feminine hygiene products and how different brands affect women and you're telling me that I can't?

I never quite understood the hubub over words... a world is simply a given collection of sound(s) composed through various "vocal" apparatuses, which are given meaning by the context of the dialog and the resulting interpretation of the word by society, the latter part being the key factor. Society at the present time determines what the word means and translates to, meaning that words are superfluous and almost meaningless relative to the overall duration of time.

In other words, words are just words, their meaning changes with time and society, thus the adage actions speak louder than words. Actions are more concrete and less changing (at least in terms of interpretation and meaning) than words, making them more ideal in most situations, especially to some.

I see no problem with douche.

Just like ****** has two meanings, as well as bastard, bitch, etc. They all have their respective origins and meanings which still hold true (to those who know them) this day; thus I support the lack of censorship desired by some.

Case and point; look up the urban definition of ******ing versus the "real" definition of ******ing.

And to those who don't know what the asterisks translate to, hint: its a bundle of sticks.
