What is with people's opposition to choice... I don't want contacts on the app switcher because it looks cluttered and messy. Just because you see worth in this feature doesn't mean everybody does.

I know iOS is hardly known for its customisation but this does seem like the sort of thing Apple usually lets you toggle on and off.

Can you give me a good reason to my I shouldn't be able to choose what I see? I sure as hell shouldn't need to stay on an old OS. Sure as hell shouldn't need to move to a diffrent platform. But there should be a setting toggle. Why not have a setting toggle. That would make EVERYONE happy.

Send an email to Apple/Tim Cook. Complaining about it here won't do any good.

Same goes for anything really. That doesn't mean discussing things like that here shouldn't be happening.

Well this feature really seems to bother some people. If it bothers them that much the best they can do is email Tim Cook or Craig Federighi and request a different implementation or that the feature be removed all together.

Sure. And discuss it in places like this forum.

I don't personally find them annoying, per se, but I do find them useless. I would prefer to have a few apps there for quick launch, above and beyond what I have in my dock. Apps that I may not use very often to justify them in the dock, but apps that I would like to quickly access without having to search through folders or start to type the name of the app in the search bar. Things like the timer, which I don't use often but when I want it, I want it fast. I know that the timer is in control center, so that's a very bad example, but I'm sure you get my jist.

haha i could see this bring an issue...

Girlfriend: Why does it say your ex is one of your recent people? Why have you been talking to them?
Boyfriend: Baby... I... Baby.... but Apple doesn't allow me to turn that off!

My "masseuse" is in the recent people list. :p

Just wait till she discovers Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services > Frequent Locations... :D
Or how about:

Girlfriend (texting): Where r u honey?
Boyfriend: At work baby...call you later
Girlfriend: How about texting me your current location?
Boyfriend: Baby...I...Baby...

:D

Go settings, mail contacts calendars, show in app switcher.....set recents to off! Boom!!

Yeah, they've addressed this back in beta 4 (as also mentioned in a few other threads on the topic).

Is it possible to remove specific people or just the whole list altogether?
From what I recall it's a setting of showing Favorites there or not, and similar one for showing Recent there or not (although for Favorites you can control individual ones from the Favorites section in the Phone app).

I personally like having only my favorites up there, as it makes it faster to contact the people I contact the most. The recents just makes it cluttered up there, IMO.

Looks like this was fixed in beta 5. You can get rid of recents and favorites now.

Ok so my question is... Now in iOS 8 can you get rid of the contacts at the top of the multitasking. I don't like see something above the apps and don't feel I need that. Can some on using iOS 8 tell me if that can be turned off? Thank you

Yes you can. Go to settings > mail contacts calendar > (scroll down) show in app switcher and turn off both favorites and recents.

I believe that's been well established by now with this having been changed back in beta 4 (and the original questions and discussions surfacing from earlier betas).
