iOS 5: iMessage

Found this site via Google when trying to find the answer to whether we can send ourselves an iMessage, so I guess I've got my answer as nobody else seems to be able to send themselves one.

I find it a little strange that it doesn't work, but I guess Apple has their reasons for not letting this be possible (or perhaps they didn't think of it at the time!). Either way, it's no big deal.

The only disappointing thing for me is the fact we have to wait for everyone to upgrade to iOS 5 before we can start using iMessage properly. Right now, I have no friends who has it...

Anyone want to be my friend? lol

Yeah, I have done iMessage (iPhone and iPad) and FaceTime (iPhone and MBP) from my account. I don't have any friends who use Apple products so it was my way of seeing it. :p

I went to the Contacts app and selected my contact, and at the bottom I pressed the 'Send Message' button.

Need help, I iMessaged myself and now I am in an endless loop of self texting. iPhone iMessages my iPad and visa versa. I'm very annoying when I iMessage myself.

Think I will FaceTime myself next. Renamed myself, me, myself, and I. iPhone, iPad, Mac Pro. Now I have at least two friends. And we are related ! :)

How in the world do all these Newbies find threads from 5+ years ago.
They aren't newbies. They are forum managers digging up old threads with new sign-ons to keep things going till next august. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

Everyone just about has their new 7 now, so that story is about dead.

If I read another JB scratch/doesn't scratch story, I may pull out what little hair I have left.

Apple, Tim Cook, and Jon Ive have been doomed, killed off and resurrected so many times we could start a religion. It's been done before. Think about it.

Other than the few OCD enthusiasts and the Android patrol, doesn't seem like their is much substance left to complain about the 7.

Too early yet for serious iPhone 8 debate and conjecture.

That leaves old threads. Have to start looking at creation dates.

Love it. Makes perfect sense!

They see "similar threads" at the bottom of the page and don't look at time stamps

I didn't realize they went that far back. I see a 2014 at the bottom of this thread, but 2011 is old!
