Wanted to bump this and ask…

When I iMessage myself a link (or anything else), I see 2 copies of the link/message. It looks like I both messaged myself and responded.

Is this expected behavior? Is there a way to stop the duplicating?

To be clear, I only messaged myself…I did not reply. But it looks as though I have. Can this be stopped somehow?

That is intended. You are seeing the copy your phone sent out to the server, and the copy that your phone received back from it.

Not sure I understand the need to text/imsessage oneself. Can one just copy the desired imessage and paste it into a new note?

I message myself a lot.
If I screenshot something on my Mac I can then send it to my iPad, via message (I don't generally use iCloud for file storage).

my messages to myself are only one sided. they don’t duplicate on either side like this. they are all on the right side as a sender.

I may have to try that. I have been just typing or dictating into a new note (or amend old notes) for shopping/to do lists.

Don't use my MBP enough to think of transferring screenshots from there.

With the icloud, any image I take on my phone shows up on my iPad. I didn't think of including my MPB in my icloud account. Actually, was not a believer in icloud backup (or any non-local backup) for decades--that changed this summer when I killed my iPhone that hadn't been locally backed up for a year.

Depends on the frequency and duration of the custom vibration pattern you create!:D
LOL like on that old pager commercial. Or you might want to be like Gollum. "We should go see a movie tonight" "No, we don't want to!"

I use shared reminders for shopping lists. 🙂 just invite someone else to have access and you can both add and delete stuff.

I will text myself recipes that I want to pin later (I don't like pinning from my phone) or instagram captions if I'm in a loop (I'm a photographer so loop a couple of times a week where I need to know what text to use).

For that I would just send an email to me and my wife but that works well too since you will only message yourself that. I always tell my wife to not text things like that because they will get buried.
Generally my 'shopping list' or reminder to myself is pretty transient. It really doesn't rise to the level of creating a note, or editing an existing note or the hassle of sending myself an email. I have six or seven email accounts so for me an email is going to get lost.

Once I've taken care of the shopping or what I reminded myself about I can just forget it - and no note or email is hanging around.

It's just lazy convenience. :D

Lastly, I'm a person that needs to write things down if I want to keep something in my head. Otherwise I forget. This is a way of eliminating physical Post-It notes and I don't even have to remember to throw it away. I could lose that entire conversation to myself as well - nothing in there has any importance to anything.

It's usually me doing the shopping, or my wife coming with me and me managing how much we spend.

I don't need her (our bank account balance doesn't need her!) adding to a shared-list willy-nilly and expecting it to be there when she gets home. :D
