Sure you could rip out a Touch ID button and the innards that connect the button but without the A7 you're onto plums.

you obviously missed my whole point..
You didn't make a "point". You asked if it could work, most have told you it won't work as intended. Sure it may work as a button but what's the "point" in that when Touch ID can't work?
Theoretically I suppose the shell doesn't matter. However you have to own a 5S and have a 5C case. Then it begs the question, why? But that is a topic for another thread.
