So I ordered the space gray, it arrives on Tuesday and the more review videos I see showing off the gold the more I'm starting to second guess my decision. Is it possible to swap colors at the apple store once I receive my phone? Has anyone done this soley based on having a change of heart over the color?

I was told in another thread that your not allowed to exchange for another color, that you have to wait until you get your upgrade back? Is this true? I'm looking to exchange mine for a 32 gig or a gold one. I bought mine at apple if that makes a difference.
I added a line to our plan Friday, if I took the 5s back it would get rid of that line without any charges right? The reason I'm asking is, if I find a 32 gb or a gold 5s at best buy or something I'll start a new line, and take this 5s back. Is that possible to do?
my apple store said 14 days for color exchanges. i can't be bothered. the space grey isn't awful at all, plus i have a case, so its not like anyone would see the back anyways.
Then you made a legally binding commitment to purchase the space grey. It should be a violation of your contract, and of the return policy, to return phones for something as juvenile as phone color. You drive up the costs for everyone when you do this. Keep it up, and Apple will curtail its return policy, screwing everyone in the process.

Is that for every apple store? I'm wondering if that's the same policy for gb returns. Anyone every exchanged a phone for a different color or gb during the first weeks of launch? How does it work? Do you just go when they get shipments In and get in line?
Purchasing a new iphone 5 from Apple Store or online you get a 30 day return period. If you purchase from Verizon/AT&T, etc, you get 14 days to return it.

You have 14 calendar days to return an item from the date you received it. For an Apple iPhone, you have 30 calendar days.
They won't just swap it out. You basically return the phone. And then you repurchase like it is a brand new sale.
Mark my words, it will happen.
So do I just wait in line like everyone else does that's purchasing the phone? Does it matter if it's a new line I started?
Not sure if it was you in the other thread but if you purchase a phone with new line, then just do so and then return the one you purchase with the old line.
Basically you can't swap just like that on one line. They will process as a return then you just buy again
If you order online and you want to return it when does the 30 days start? Order date, shipping date or delivery date?
So your saying I could reserve a phone and start a new line and then I could take the 5s I'm using now and that would get rid of my this line I started Friday?
You return the phone and have to wait in line like everybody else to purchase the version you wanted.

I know I have no special priority. I'm just trying to figure out how this works since you can't exchange for a different color. I just get in line for the phone, tell them I want to return this one and they put my money back onto my debit card, then make the purchase for the other phone?
You are incorrect. If you use an upgrade, you have only 14 days to reverse the upgrade, which is necessary to keep the subsidized price.
I was told at the apple store (by a manager) that even if you use an upgrade you can still return the phone... it is a little more work for them but it is no problem...
I am saying you can reserve a phone with a new line, and return the 5S you're using now for a refund.
Now, as far as getting rid of that line is an entirely separate question. Are you saying you want to close that line completely?
If you're keeping both lines open, what you're trying to do will not be an issue
