I just bought the apple tv 3 literally fifteen minutes ago.

I like the :apple:watch, but I would only get the gold or steel model and then it would be north of 1.2k€.
For that price I'd get a real watch.

All except the Apple Watch -- an uncompelling and boring product. I'm almost certainly going to buy the Gen. 2 version, hopefully by the 2016 release most of the grit will be worked out (somehow I doubt it)...

I can see the notifications being valuable. I think the fact that I have never worn a watch prior to smart watches factors in. That, and I'm that guy who always has his phone within arm's length. If they ever make it where the watch can truly act on its own, without needing the phone or shared wifi, my interest might peek a bit then.

For me notifications have awesome, especially in noisy environments where I might not hear my phone. Also getting caller ID on it when I am sitting in the living room and my phone is on the kitchen counter is handy as well.

The coolest thing I have found for it that I wasn't expecting was being able to set timers by voice command while I am cooking. I can be stir frying and just say "hey Siri, set a timer for 2 minutes" and it does it. Without touching the watch at all and I don't have to put the spoon down and walk over to my oven to set a timer.

But, I wish it had better fitness tracking capability, especially when not connected. It isn't that good of a fitness tracking device as far as that goes.

You know they launched the ATV 4 a few weeks back right?

Do you have ALL of the below?

1) Apple Watch
2) iPhone (or iPod touch)
3) iPad
4) MacBook or desktop Mac
and
5) Apple TV?

If so, how has this affected your life?

No, yes, yes (although my daughter has claimed ownership of it,) yes, and yes.

I am a Pebble fan, both for the long battery life and cheaper price.

I just upgraded to the 6S. Before that, I had a 4S, before that a 3G. So it'll probably be the 7S or 8 before I upgrade again.

Got an original iPad from a coworker - he won it, didn't want it, wanted a desktop computer, I had a spare PC. It was a few months before the iPad 2 came out. I used it fairly often, and was able to nearly replace my laptop with it. Then I changed jobs, which required me to have a work-provided laptop for work uses, and upgraded to the iPad Air when it came out (Target extreme trade-in special,) and now my daughter uses the iPad.

I've had Macs as my primary personal machines since 2003. Haven't bought a brand new Mac since the Intel switch (original MacBook Pro, fully loaded.) I'm currently on a bought-used-a-couple-months-ago 2011 21.5" iMac. My wife has a 2013 MacBook Air (bought new - the first new Mac in our house since 2006.)

For a while, I was a "cable cutter," using only broadcast HTDTV and internet video services, so the AppleTV (gen 3) was my primary internet-video device. It still sees regular use, but recently got cable TV+internet (DSL was slow, and getting more unreliable every month,) so it's no longer my primary viewing device.

Having the "matched vendors" for phone, computer, and streaming device is nice. While I had my work laptop (Windows,) I tried to use it for personal uses too, but it wasn't as convenient. I also had a work-provided phone, but kept my personal iPhone 4S because the seamlessness of it was easier.

1) Apple Watch - still don't get it, although I do like my Withings Activite
2) iPhone 6 - upgrade every 2 years, so it's 7 time next year
3) iPad rMini 2 - have an iPad 2 that my daughter uses, but I could quite happily live without a tablet
4) MBA 2013 and iMac 2011 - laptop upgrade every 3 years, so either a MacBook or MacBook Pro next year. Don't really need my iMac anymore, as I have a much more powerful FreeNAS server, so won't be replacing when it dies.
5) Apple TV4 - love it, and whilst it could be better (iOS remote app, optical out) having a native Plex client is brilliant

Whilst the 'it just works' tag line isn't always true, it does work pretty well most of the time and the synchronisation across devices is worth it.

Okay, so that settles it, I'm going to wait for Apple Watch 2.

I have had all of these, but I sold the Apple Watch because it's pretty much useless and I replaced the iPhone with a Nexus 6P.

All except the watch ... which I have no interest in.

My iPod Touch came free with my 2008 iMac. Still don't have an iPhone.

While I love all my Mac products, the iPad is my "go to" device. Mobility has its advantages.

I've never owned an Apple TV, and see no place for the Apple watch in my life. I wear a Rolex every day that was a gift signifying an important event in my life, and being a watch guy I'm not giving up the wrist space for an Apple watch.

I rarely use my iPad, although I have one. For "on the go" use my iPhone does all the same stuff and is a lot easier to carry(i.e. it's always with me) even though it's more cramped that working on an iPad. Whether I'm laying around the house or traveling, I find a full-blown laptop a much better option-it's not only a lot more comfortable for me to use(i.e. sitting on my lap or on a table rather than holding it) but is also many, many times better for typing. Given the sales numbers for iPads, I'm likely in the minority with this opinion, but after giving it an honest effort I feel like it's just a device that I find doesn't work that well for me.

Macs are a different story :) . I think I can pretty safely call myself a Macintosh collector, and am getting perilously close to 100 computers in my collection. At this point, I've gone as far back as the 512Ke, although I'm still on the hunt for both an original 512K and a 128K(along with a bunch of other stuff).

My main computer is a mid-2012 15" MBP with the high-res matte screen. Although I bought it used, it was something of a dream machine for me-I have a strong preference for matte screens and this(to my knowledge) was the last computer that had one and the "classic Unibody" form factor is the last(officially) upgradeable laptop Apple made. I also use a Mac Pro 1,1 at work(although it's personally owned) that I've upgraded extensively. Although these computers are getting a bit "old" by technology standards(3 years for the MBP, nearly 10 for the MP) they are showing no signs of slowing down and I intend to keep both going as long as is feasible. Within the past few months, the MP has been upgraded to 8 cores(2x4 cores), 16gb of RAM, an SSD, and an 8800GT. It's running Mavericks quite comfortably, and could run Yosemite or El Capitan just as well other than the fact that I'm digging my feet in and being stubborn about not upgrading. Short of upping the processors to 3ghz(which wouldn't gain much) there's no more room there, but I can keep trudging along with RAM upgrades for a while(as necessary), SSDs(albeit limited by the SATA 2 bus), and support for recent GPUs is good enough in recent versions of OS X that I can keep plugging new ones in for the forseeable future. I opted for a flashed card in my most recent purchase to get a boot screen, but since 10.7 most supported PC graphics cards will plug in and work perfectly fine without flashing if you can live without a boot screen.

What did you want it to do that it doesn't?
bluetooth keyboards (atv4 does not allow those!), iworks, webbrowser and basically other apps any ipod touch can run.

I don't understand why they crippled the ATV4 like that. I wasn't expecting a desktop grade machine, but they could've at least included the ios basics.

Yeah, I bought the ATV4 to replace my ATV2. Then I realized it doesn't do anything I actually want. Replaced it with a $35 Chromecast.
I got the ATV3 for 55€.
It mostly replaced my mini as a media center. Very happy so far.

The crazy thing is if it were a Windows product, it would be a full machine. The problem is, it's an Apple device, so to get a full computer or even close, the device would cost like $800.

Somewhere in the infinite multiverse, there is a version of you with 5 Apple Watches running down her left art. Were you to meet this version of you, she'd think you're weird, and have no style.

Em, I have to say that somehow, even in parallel lives, there are certain versions of me that simply would not compute, so, - ah, I rather doubt that.

Five Apple watches? Bling bling writ large…….

The thing on my wrist is an Omega which looks older than it is, the sort of elegant, understated timepiece with dauphine hands, and Arabic numerals at the 2, 4, 6. 8, 10 and 12 parts of the quadrant. It has a slimmer dauphine - almost a stiletto blade - as a second hand, and a small neat, date function. The watches it most closely resembles are those understated classics from the 50s and 60s that I love.

Meanwhile, my phone is a Nokia which could almost be described as 'antique' (a hint; it makes and receives calls and finds texts the very limit of its capabilities…..but its flanks glow, appreciatively when someone calls…)

I have an iPhone, still have a 1st gen iPad that gets occasional use and a MBA. I have no interest whatsoever in the watch, and likely won't upgrade to a newer iPad. The Apple TV might interest me at some point if I ever get a TV instead of watching everything on my computer.

Here's sort of a different idea, what if these tech giants stopped battling and tried to make their products work better with the competition's systems?

E.G. remember how great it was when they finally started unitizing file formats (.doc, .xls) that could open on either a Mac or a PC? Floppy disks that could go between a Mac and PC, etc.

How about pairing an android watch with an iPhone, etc.?

So close! 4/5. No Apple Watch. That is the one Apple device, the iPad Pro too I guess, that I'll never buy. I prefer conventional wrist watches and I don't need more notifications in my life.

So I'm stuck with:

– iPhone 6S (Space Grey)
– 13'' rMBP
– iPad Mini 2
– Apple TV 3rd Gen

The iPhone, and the Macbook to some extent, is by far the most important one for me. I went through five days last week without having an iPhone and it was like hell. I didn't think I depended that much on – and in some way I hate that I do. It's the base of so much of what I do: listening to music and podcasts on the go, finding my way around the city, getting in touch with people, remembering stuff etc. It's both fascinating and scary I guess :D
