which part is a step backward exactly? Apple added a suggested words UI for the keyboard similar to what Android has now and that's a step back?

Hasn't this kind of autocorrect been around for a while? What's wrong with what Apple currently does?

It's more intuitive to tap a suggested word than it is to press space and hope you got the right word. I'm completely for this feature coming to iOS

The new feature they added is what a lot of folks like the Samsung Galaxy S and Notes series for. It helps to expedite typing. Personally I like it better than the old way as it gives three options.

Yeah I had it on my BlackBerry Storm2, but I've finally gotten used to Apple's current one. I didn't use it much with BB anyway.
 
Solution here!

Have at least two types of keyboards so that you can have the little earth thing on the keyboard. Press that and you'll see there's "prediction" option. You can turn it off!:)
