I would never recommend an Apple mouse to anyone
I find them heavy and incredibly awkward... and for all that they don’t even track particularly smoothly. The only advantage is the smooth scrolling, but that’s it.

The one thing I’ve found that somewhat helps with the awkward fit is the Elevation Lab Magic Grips, which stick onto the side and give your hand something to actually hold onto. They’re a little ugly, but they take away one of its problems.

Apple has a long history of shipping terrible mice and it doesn’t seem like they’re going to stop anytime soon.

yea I was a bit confused by that one as well lol. My razor gaming mouse, while also bluetooth uses a dongle for best latency and performance
Does it work over USB-C? I am still really puzzled as to why Logitech only makes their adapter in USB-A, making it a super awkward fit with a MacBook (or any computer that only has USB-C).

I consider wireless mice with dongles the cheap crap. Better pay a bit more and use the built-in Bluetooth that every Mac has.

This isn't always true. The polling rate on Bluetooth isn't great for mice, which is why all high end wireless mice include a dongle, which can poll fast enough to be pretty much indistinguishable from a wired mouse.

I would get an Apple Mouse.
Ergonomics of a brick, one of Apple's worst products... Binned it in a matter of weeks, all my gaming mice have worked and paired with my Mac's with no issue. Admittedly some needed to be programmed on a Windows PC.

For competitive FPS gamers, sure. This is the MacBook Neo forum and I'd wager most users don't want a dongle for a mouse. I amended my original post.

Logitech sells $200+ gaming mice that use their own wireless adapter because they are much faster than they could be with Bluetooth. Now you know.
I amended my post. I didn't take these into consideration because nobody will use a MacBook Neo for competitive FPS gaming. And I prefer wired for gaming.

I personally wouldn't use Bluetooth even for my office work given how poor it feels in comparison to the dongle. I've got a Razer mouse that does both and Bluetooth was a complete non starter when I tried it.

The general MacBook Neo audience won't notice though.

For the longest time I was against the idea of even using a laptop or a trackpad. Apple trackpad is different. It is unmatched and in its own class. Although the Neo uses an actual physical trackpad lacking the "deep press" of the other MacBooks, it is still leagues better than another trackpad you have used and they came up with a neat way to make the mechanism inside.

You don’t have to be into gaming to use a good mouse. I don’t game at all but I’m using a Logitech G305 for graphic design because it’s so light and responsive.

You might give the built-in trackpad a try and see how you like it first. I liked it so much I ditched the mouse on my desktop Mac long ago and switched to Apple's trackpad there too. Lots of configuration options(some in Accessibility settings), like 3-finger drag for moving items or selecting text that I find much quicker and easier in terms of repetitive use on your hand than a mouse. One less thing to carry too.

I tend to stick to mice that have both options. At home, my Logitech 3S and Pop Icon keyboard both connect to a Bolt dongle, but they work via BT as well. Since the dongle is plugged into my thunderbolt monitor, it works with my mac and my work Dell laptop.

I rarely use the trackpad either. macOS handles mice really well, and you can tweak scrolling and tracking speed easily in settings.

The only thing I don't like about how mac handles mice is not letting the scroll have a different direction than the trackpad, but there are a million utilities to fix it.

Trackpad gets natural scrolling; mice get reverse.

You can set the scrolling to natural within the mouse settings in MacOS.

I always turn natural scrolling off.

When I had my MacMini I detested the apple mouse so much I purchased the apple BT Trackpad which I love. It takes a while to get used to but once you do ...

Unless they changed it, you can't have different scrolling settings with the mouse and trackpad at the same time. That is what I'm referring to.

I use a Logitech Ergo M575S trackball with my Neo and have natural scrolling turned off and it has no effected how the track pad works.

Not always true.

Logitech has their Lightspeed dongle which is much faster than Bluetooth, much better for gaming. Also far from cheap.

100% I recently swapped my Apple Magic Mouse for a Logitech MX Master 3 and it came with a dongle and I am so much happier with the dongle than bluetooth as there is way more lag using bluetooth since there are so many devices using bluetooth the bandwidth can be limited.
