If you are buying it full price without contract... just select the contract version and the "change your mind" when they ask for your carrier info.

Not a bad idea! next time the model I want is showing availability I will give it a try. Thanks!

Anyone know if this is likely to work?

My gf did it on Friday. Just make sure you have the phone in your hand before you change your mind. Just dont activate it yet.

This only works if you are buying outright (full price)

Earlier saw that Edmonton had a 6+ 128GB SG. Was tempted to just fly there from Vancouver and grab it, since its unlikely Vancouver will replenish stock.

I appreciate the advice.

Good luck getting yourself a 6+ glad I am not looking for one of those

How strict are Apple stores about reservation time? I reserved a pick up for today at 6pm but I can't make it. I've heard the earlier the better so I was thinking of going at noon. Will that be a huge problem?

I have been trying to reserve an iphone 6 64GB space grey in any of the three Vancouver apple stores but whenever the site shows availability in that model it seems to only be available on contract and not device only.

Hoping to secure one before I move away to the mountains for winter...otherwise I will be stuck with an iphone 4 for another 6 months and lower quality photos than I would like.

If it comes down to it I will have to pay a scalper for a phone at the last minute.

thats interesting, are you sure you on the Canadian apple store? I dont even see contract options on the Canada site just unlocked versions

thats the same plan I am on till Sept 2015, I figure I will make my savings before my contract expires, if they try and raise the price after that atleast I am free to walk

Just wanted to say that they can't ever change your plan. Only you can do that. So if you don't renew/upgrade ever you can grandfather that plan as long as you like. Just buy phones outright.

Lots of 6+ came into stock at stores at noon pacific time today across Canada. It looked like all stores had some stock. Pretty much gone in 15 minutes.

I've reserved a 64 Grey plus, hope I actually get it.

This makes me split between sadness and hopeful. Why are stores getting stock and selling out to new reservations if my preorder from the 12tj is still slated to ship the middle of next month. :(

Store stock is different then online orders, more preference is give to stores

I heard ya, but if they took care of online sales first they might of not even had any devices on launch day in stores
Which I agree with, however I'm not sure they should allow more preorders than they can handle. Kind of defeats the purpose.

When I worked for the source, preorders were an embarrassment. Customers never got their order before walk-ins and often the preorders got messed up horribly.

In Canada, will buying an iPhone outright save you money compared to getting one with a 2-year contract?

That's highly dependent on what plan you have currently and what plan you want if you don't want what you have. Currently plans with minor amounts of data are around 70 dollars. I have the 6gb 75 dollar promo plan from the iphone 5 launch weekend and I'm not getting rid of it. It would cost 140 dollars for that plan currently if I was to "upgrade" and I also have an employee discount from that time before virgin mobile killed employee discounts.

So for me personally, most definitely. And for everyone else: probably, unless they have a voice plan and want data.

The phone retails for 375 with a 2 year 70-80 dollar plan. That's a total of 2300$ rounded up not including taxes. In my case the phone and two years of current data plan will be 1930$ with taxes included. Also for consideration my play has 6gb compared to 500mb in the 70 dollar plan. Which surely I would go over at times.

Obviously outright won't be for everyone, as I save big time on my current plan, and I still have a year left on it since at the iphone 5 launch it was still 36mo contracts so I would have to pay an additional 200+ to cancel.

awesome thanks, I was worried my plans price was only gauranteed to the end of the contract term

TMK the only way they could change your plan here in canada is if the CRTC made a ruling that had to be followed by carriers, but I doubt they would do something that could affect a plan rather than a fee associated or other incidentals.

When I heard reservations were going I cancelled my pre-order, I feel the wait times are ridiculous.

Reserved the phone at noon yesterday and picked it up at Oakridge in the afternoon. I suppose I got lucky as there was no new 6+ stock listed in Canada so far today.

this is weird store names are greyed out on reserve site for iphones...can't check stock at rideau

Greyed out store names on the Canadian Apple Website become active after 12:01AM

When you log into AppleID to RESERVE your phone you will see the option to either reserve a "DEVICE ONLY" phone or "ON CONTRACT" then it will list all the Canadian Cellular Providers.

The "ON CONTRACT" option allows the Apple Store to know how long each cellular activation will take. I activated my sim card through the Fido website at home, took less than 15 seconds. In reality, you can choose the ON CONTRACT option and still walk out with an unlocked full price phone.

This is for the Canadian Apple Store Website.

I noticed some stock @ 12. Around 12:20 more stock was added, I was able to snag a 64gb 6+. Pick up later today.

I'm keeping an eye on this. Im still upset that everywhere i go, there is no stock for the iPhone 6+.

I have just reserved a pickup for a 6, space grey 64 gb

Now I am currently using a iphone 4 which uses a micro sim. I am a fido customer, will they have a nano sim in store that they will be able to provide to me? how does that usually work?

You can just ask the Apple staffs for one, they give it out for free and they can activate for you on the spot.

but if you ask a staff @ those carrier booth, they most likely charge you $10 for a sim card + $35 for activation fee.

there is no activation fee you just have to pay $10 and change your current SIM over to the new sized one, thats what Rogers says and Fido and Rogers are pretty much the same company
