Appleinsider posted a article citing a good source who laughs at the idea that the mac pro is dead

WWDC has to be more than ios and osx previews for all the reasons you listed +
They would not copy same format as last year, people are waiting for new macs, prices slashed and the tagline for wwdc does NOT blatantly say ios osx only. The week weve all been waiting for , even if its june on a whole

You're exactly right, and with the surge in popularity of the Mac app store, app development is arguably just as important for the Mac side of things.

I think it all makes perfect timing for Tim Cook to introduce his first Mac(s).

apple store is back up. there is no change except the macs now offer an apple TV as one of its accessories, also the time capsule as well.

Does that mean they're just trying to sell that stuff too, since it's probably being updated soon?

:apple:TV was just updated in March. No new hardware in that department for a while. Even Time Capsule update is questionable; I guess we'll find out next week how aggressive they want to be with 802.11ac.

Mostly, it just means that they want to do more cross-selling.

UK store has been down again for about 40 minutes (so far) this seems to fit in line with (sorry I can't remember which thread it was on) someones previous statement regarding the 'mysterious black box' that was brought into Apple stores and staff being asked to work late on June 5th?

Probably just routine/pricing updates and back to school store preparations but could there be a bizarre chance that we'll see something today?

As much as I'd love to (money burning a hole in my pocket) I do think that I'd be a bit disappointed if it was a silent update rather than a big showcase come Mondays keynote!

Hey, maybe we'll just get some new thermostats!

It seems to be up and down, doing a lot of testing and back end stuff I imagine preparing for the onslaught of sales come monday at about noon pacific time.

Yeah it seems most likely, for everyone stating timescales as being too long for nest/fathers day & new education payment plan implementation. I guess we have to remember that this isn't just a single webpage update but a global update of (what is it, 132 localised online stores?) plus their mobile counterparts.

What looks like a simple web page update could have been delayed or set back by any number of reasons, localised design studio setbacks or last minute amends that slipped the initial proofing due to the mass of work to be compared.
