It's true, although I can't get a link to the exact page that proves it.
Just got to apple.com/jobs, choose Canada, choose any of the jobs there (Mac Genius works, for example), then select location, choose British Columbia from the "State" menu (we can get TV shows but not recognition of provinces, sheesh), and then you'll see that the only one available is Pacific Centre.
Ta-da!
Excellent! Thank You. I just sent in application. It might actually pay slightly less than my current job, but working for Apple is absoutely a dream of mine.
Actually, now I see that Mac Geniuses were making $20/hour US back in 2005 - so it would be about at par, even if it would require a longer commute.
Man, that would be pretty sweet for a few years.
Any idea when it opens? If it's towards the middle of the year, that would be absolutely perfect.
Any idea what the formal qualifications for a "Mac Genius" are anyways? I don't have any formal techical certification, but I've been using Macs since the Classic my parents bought when I was eight or so - and I'm proficent enough to have:
1) Twice assembled a complete G3 PowerBook through complete swaps of major components (pulling an LCD from one unit and installing it on another - and swapping logic boards in another case).
2) Disassembled and installed a new hard drive in an eMac (moderately scary).
3) Parted out one G4 PowerBook, repaired another - including a hinge replacement.
Plus, of course, the other more basic stuff.
