Yes I did. Apple needs to be aware that their quality control sucks. The iPhone is 4 years old now and unlike HTC, Apple only has to worry about one phone. There is absolutely no excuse for these design, hardware and software flaws, especially considering what they charge for these things. Maybe that will get them worked out soon and I will give em another look.
Let me tell you a something very important: QC for any company these days, sucks. Or it would appear so. It could be the fact that more consumers want electronics, it could be the fact that breakthrough technology is used more carefree, who knows.
Now that we've established that QC sucks, what can you do about your product if it doesn't meet your QC desires? Simple, you can either return it, exchange it, or repair it. In all of these, warrantee and customer service come into play (except, possibly, repair). As much as I hate Apple's software and the "Apple knows best!" vibe you get with their PR, they really do have a good warrantee and customer service. The same can definitely not be said about companies such as HTC or Sony or Microsoft.
For instance with Apple a return is quick and easy unless product personalization is involved (ie. engraving). As well, exchanges will almost never result in your new item being another's refurbished item. The same can almost never be said of HTC or Microsoft. Repairs are different with Apple as Apple may charge a good chunk of money for repairing even the cheapest of parts, however, if you live in the west, there are many self-designated Apple product repair shops which will severely undercut an Apple quoted price and still produce a repair of ridiculously good quality. In fact, when my motherboard broke on my MBP, yet I was 1 year too late on my warrantee, Apple charged $600 to fix my board where a place in California charged around $300. Naturally I got the place in California to try their best and Apple even payed the fee for whatever reason after I send them a discerning email. Half a year later and my MBP is still going strong once again.
The point is, you can't demand QC and so you shouldn't demand perfection in your product, you should demand perfection in a company's warrantee policies and customer services.
<insert I'm not a mac fanboy though I own some mac products rant here. As well, make sure to note that although I like my MBP, I don't like the premium cost to legally run OS X and so my next notebook will be windows exclusive>
<insert I've owned HTC and Sony and Nokia phones and while I haven't owned an iPhone before, I'm willing to take the plunge this year. As well, note that of the above phone manufacturers, Nokia served me the longest and it's too bad they have lost their edge in the new generation of mobile phone wars>
