While I'm alive I'm like a dragon with my treasures. When I'm dead I won't care and my heirs can sort it out.

Love that! I think i might keep this one too, makes sense really since hopefully we will be able to reuse the bands also.

I ordered a 38 Grey/Black Sport, then went in for the try on, and as soon as I got home I ordered a Stainless Steel 42.

The more I think on it the more I'm debating keeping my SS with Milanese. While I have the cash I'm really second guessing $800 for a smart watch. I've never owned a smart watch so I'm not 100% sure of the uses for myself. Only downside is waiting til May/June while I should have the SS on Friday.

Anybody else having doubts and thinking of going with the cheaper model until gen 2? This way you see how it fits into your day to day?

I ordered the SS with Milanese myself. Sticking to it.

I went with the black sport because my wife probably won't pay attention to the fact that what she thought was still my Pebble, suddenly has color and I'm using it a lot more. Truthfully, I am one of the few that actually likes the look of the Pebble so the space grey sport was a no brainier for me especially with my funds.

I've been waiting on buying a watch since my last watches bit the dust. I ordered the stainless steel over sport primarily because of the sapphire face, I talk with my hands and tend to scratch up my watches. But I'm leery of the cost because I have managed to break some pretty good watches in the past....

I finally went to see/try on the watches today. I feel better about spending the money on the SS because the sport aluminum looks like plastic to me. The SG Sport is definitely the one to get if you buy a Sport.

If it's going to bother you that you spent the extra in a year or two when Watch 2.0 comes out, change your order. No one worthy of your regard is going to care what's on your wrist.

For me, the value will be measured in the number of times I don't have to check my phone and can just glance at my wrist to triage alerts. A lot of power iOS users get several alerts per hour; I would venture to guess I get a corporate email or calendar invitation every 10 minutes during business hours. About 1/2 of those that don't get sorted by Exchange rules often make it to my inbox and need attention. Being able to do that triaging at my wrist during a meeting will allow me to reduce the time I spend replying to critical messages between meetings. Heck, I might even get to take a lunch!

This is may main uses for it. I have meetings going on all over the place most days. The watch will come in handy for outlook event reminders and reminding me where to go next. Same with emails I easily get 100+ emails a day so this will help to let me see as they pop up what is important and what is fud.

I think this will be the main usages of my watch.

I'm the opposite as well: pre-ordered the SG Sport because I thought I'd go for the cheapest model for 1st gen, then went to a try-on appointment and preferred the SS model. For me it's worth the extra £180 (= $270 - yep, we get stung in the UK!) - the dilemma is I've got the SG Sport coming on Friday (fingers crossed - I've been charged anyway!) and the SS not available until June! I'm not convinced about the resale value of the Sport after a few months either...

Ordered SG Sport. Did a try-on after and, while I still like the Sport (and am thinking it would go great with a leather loop band purchased later on), I keep thinking about how much nicer the SS model would be.

I'm resolved to keep my SG Sport order rather than starting over, and to spend less to start off, but there's a good chance I will want to sell/upgrade/swap in the future.

I love Apple and our household is strictly Apple, but their 1st gen products can be a little dicey. I went with the Sport and will upgrade further on down the line if it turns out to be a product that I really like.

42 SG? I would have it off you if you're local to Birmingham

I am the opposite. I tried the Sport and I did not like it. Now dreaming of having an SS. I have been reading Macrumors since perhaps my first iPod Photo, but really did not participate in posting anything. Somehow I tried to look for another Apple Watch SS to trade in Seattle and I got an email from the moderator saying my posts are less than 250 and it is against the rules. I ordered a green 42mm sport and I think I am going to post it on Craigslist to see if anyone in Seattle ordered 42mm SS and wants to trade. If worst comes to worst, I am just going to keep the watch till June when my SS arrives.

I originally pre-ordered a sport then switched to a SS. Starting to reconsider this decision again, but I think I'm gonna hold off a bit before I switch back to a sport.

After Friday, there will be lots of reviews and torture tests which will help solidify my decision for aluminum of SS.

I did the same thing. The SS just looked so damn good, and I want any of those official fancy bands to match. I got the 42mm SS with a white sport band just so it would be cheaper to begin with and since I will likely need it for more "you gonna sweat" stuff initially since it's freaking hot here in the summer. But I figure I might get one of those leather bands or the Milanese loop for Christmas.

I'm also curious about seeing real-world experience. I figure SS and sapphire must be stronger. I'm a geology major, so that would be a key thing for this lasting for many years, especially when I go to field school next summer.

I have nice watches that will be useful for a very long time (possibly decades).

Due to the technology in the watch, it will be useful for about 3 years tops.

I could not see paying a premium to upgrade the watch such that it could last beyond its useful life.

My main reservation is the uncertain shelf life for this thing. It definitely would have been smarter to just do a sport one (and that is what I intended) but in the rush of getting the order in, and a mis-click, i ended up with the SS milanese (I had been considering that one strongly which is why I went to it on auto-pilot at 3am).

I kept it that way and I dont intend to downgrade, but I cant deny the wisdom of taking this slowly being a new product with unknown update schedule.

I do wish you lived in Seattle :( since I have Sport coming, but want to have a SS.

I ordered the aluminum watch immediately on launch day, and hopefully it will arrive on Friday. I figured, sight unseen, it was the most practical choice, and I'd almost certainly want the new model next year. I tried on the stainless later on that day and loved it, but I think I'd rather collect a few different bands this year and then spring for a better watch next year.

I'm retired, so except for my husband and the dog, there's nobody to impress around here anyway.

Don't do it!! You will regret it when no 2nd gen comes out next year. And the SS looks a lot better IMO.
