I was going to get an iPhone Pro to compliment my Air but can’t imagine going back to a heavy phone. I already sold my IPhone 11 spare phone and sold my IPhone 17 as felt i never needed two flagship. I decided I don’t need the extra zoom or cameras. Anyway I had store credit from cancelling the Pro and had to replace my IPhone 11 I sold. I went for the IPhone 16e. Is the 16e a good choice? iPhone 16 was my main phone last year. The 16e will be a spare.

Like I say that larger screen and slimmer is why I like the Air. The Pro seems a bit boring as does the standard 17 model. Anybody else struggled to choose this year?

The pros aren’t too heavy - the pro max on the other hand is.
Agree that the standard 17 (which awesome for specs and value) is boring. Apple stick to a very narrow template and year after year don’t make any real effort to give the base model a distinct character.

This is ridiculous imo. The pro and pro max are not too heavy. My problem with the Air is that it’s a gimped phone that diminishes the experience. I’m sure it’s fine for some, but in no way, shape or form does it compare to the pro models. I personally believe it’s the worst phone in this year’s lineup and I’m surprised Apple put its name on it. It’s one of the worst smartphones on the market.

I have both right now.

The Air feels great every time I pick it up. The problem is with what I do with my phone I just drain the battery so much faster and I miss some of the camera features - its the same thing everyone says. I'm still finding myself not wanting to give the air back though....

I use my phone for holiday pictures or gigs never use the zoom. I hear alot of people use the “extra” cameras. Not sure I’ve ever really used them. Very little situations require ultra wide pictures. What camera features am I missing? The 17/Air/pro all have camera control and duel video and new selfie camera

im actually tempted to return my air for the PM but not for reasons you may think. the Pro phones get better cell signal due to the antenna, like an extra 2 bars worth of signal from people ive been talking to about it
I have been hearing the exact opposite. Maybe it depends on location and service provider.

To each their own but to me the Air is the best designed iphone Apple has released since the Xs.

I encourage you to try both Pro models for at least a day or two: you will be shocked how the smaller Pro this year actually feels heavier than the Max. It only looks lighter on paper, but it’s way more condensed on the inside and it just feels off compared to the bigger one. The Max is more spread out and it feels more comfortable in my hand. I have relatively long fingers. The smaller pro is way too heavy for such a small footprint. This year I thought I would consider downsizing, but after 2 days with the smaller Pro, it’s going back. I’m keeping the 17PM.

I currently still have my 15 Pro Max, 17 Pro, and Air. I have tested cellular strength on all three and I am getting the same speed and number of bars, so, to me, C1X is not better or worse.

That said, I am leaning very heavily towards keeping my Air and returning my 17 Pro. Air provides me the "change" I crave for every once in a while. The 41g difference between 17 Pro and Air does not sound much but one really has to hold both phones to feel the difference and appreciate the Air's design. The other thing I like about Air is how it just disappears in my jeans pocket because of its thinness. Originally, I hated the speaker on the Air but that was because I was comparing it to 17 Pro. However, if I forget the comparison and just use it normally, it sounds just fine for everything, albeit, the volume is a bit lower than 17 Pro. I have got 5 more days to decide, so, let's see what happens!

I literally just downsized from a 16PM due to RSI. So I doubt this very much in my case.

Both my wife and I came to the same conclusion when we checked out all the phones at the Apple store. The smaller Pro actually does feel a lot heavier in your hand than the Pro Max.

My friend did cancel his preorder of the iPhone 17PM last minute before release day not for that reason, but because he didn’t want to pay the extra money for it and the cosmic orange he wanted to collect from store is not available.

And he still kept his silver iPhone 14 Pro Max which is heavier than the 17 pro max.

Why’d you assume that 17PM is heavier than the 11 ?

As much as I ADORE the Air, it's just not worth $1000+ for most. The amount of features and hardware you sacrifice, for the sake of ~30% less depth and weight, is too much imo.

The Air is BY FAR the most gorgeous and exciting iPhone, and perhaps Apple product in general, since the X but the camera system, speaker and battery life (particularly when using the camera) all leave quite a bit to be desired in my personal experience with it over the past couple weeks.

Don’t make a decision based on gossip!

I don’t know about the air as I never got one, however I had the 17 pro and now have the 17 and they are exactly the same in getting reception, the Pro is not better signal wise, not in my experience!

Same here, my Air has better 5G signal reception compared to the 16 Pro I came from.

Exact same location at work and now getting 3 bars instead of 1.

Much faster cellular connection too = probably the CX1 modem ?
it is better then my 16pro yes, im talking about the 17 pro's specifically. and ive been comparing signal strenght with my fathers 15pro both on ios 26.0.1 and he constantly has 1 more bar then my air and theres been times i can't load a webpage but he can. obv this is when my air has 1 bar of service.

My first thought is that the people you say you're talking to are trying to justify buying a Pro instead of another model. Only because I haven't heard about Airs having worse cell reception than Pros anywhere else.

Bottom line though, if your Air cell reception is good for you, then it doesn't matter what anyone else says.
