Based on the replies here a lot of people here seems to carry around two phones, can someone explain to me the benefits of that?

My employer gave me the option of using my cell for a $25 a month stipend or carry around a company phone.

Most everyone I know took the $25. I did too.

I have both right now.

The Air feels great every time I pick it up. The problem is with what I do with my phone I just drain the battery so much faster and I miss some of the camera features - its the same thing everyone says. I'm still finding myself not wanting to give the air back though....
If they had made a phone with the Air's strong, aesthetic materials and the 17 Pro Max's battery & cameras, I would have bought that in a heartbeat. Bonus points if they made it in a nice, refined green like the 13 Pro's Alpine Green.

I canceled my air order and bought a pro max instead. I'm really happy with the camera and the phone feels/looks better than I initially thought it did after using it a few days. It's also thinner than my 13 was!

I can't say I'm that impressed with the speakers lol. To me they still sound undeniably like crappy phone speakers. From a normal video watching distance, I can't imagine the stereo separation effect does much of anything. I'm not sure why people would consider that a deal killer for a phone unless they literally live off it and never use a TV or a bigger computer.

The 17PM cameras are fantastic, though! Thing is, the Air has the same main camera, no? It should be fine! I really did want a good camera for taking macro shots though.

The 17PM size kills me hahaha. With a case it's heavier than my galaxy fold 4, which I already thought was too much. Without the case I am worried about scratches because of course I am. Maybe I shouldn't worry too much? From my experience so far, Apple stores really don't care about scratches when you trade in (carrier financing deals), so in 2 years if/when I decide to swap this out it shouldn't be a big deal.

I wonder how the Air battery is working out for people. The Air seemed to do really well (better than the 17 Pro!) in a lot of tests, so I don't think the situation is as bad as people say? I haven't really gone through my 17PM's battery yet but I don't really think it's THAT big a deal.

im actually tempted to return my air for the PM but not for reasons you may think. the Pro phones get better cell signal due to the antenna, like an extra 2 bars worth of signal from people ive been talking to about it
Returned mine for similar reasons. I rely on cellular data in various areas but found the Air was regularly dropping video connections in areas I never had a problem with my old 15 Pro. Tried adjusting every cellular data setting one-by-one, but after a week had to give up. Exchanged for a 17 standard and the problems immediately went away in the same areas the Air struggled. Maybe it's the new modem Apple switched to for the Air, I don't know. Loved the Air otherwise.

No this was heavy - my first portable cellular phone on the Western Los Angeles phone system where we had to go thru an operator:

Did you call in airstrikes or something?

"Operator! Sally! Strike coordinates mile marker 18 stat!"

I was going to get an iPhone Pro to compliment my Air but can’t imagine going back to a heavy phone. I already sold my IPhone 11 spare phone and sold my IPhone 17 as felt i never needed two flagship. I decided I don’t need the extra zoom or cameras. Anyway I had store credit from cancelling the Pro and had to replace my IPhone 11 I sold. I went for the IPhone 16e. Is the 16e a good choice? iPhone 16 was my main phone last year. The 16e will be a spare.

Like I say that larger screen and slimmer is why I like the Air. The Pro seems a bit boring as does the standard 17 model. Anybody else struggled to choose this year?
You were going to buy a second brand new iPhone to supplement your brand new iPhone after selling your other brand new iPhone after having bought a brand new iPhone last year?

Bought a 17 sold it, bought the Air cancelled the Pro. Due to lower demand for the air I can update I have reordered the Pro so the Air will have to remain my spare phone.

I use my phone for holiday pictures or gigs never use the zoom. I hear alot of people use the “extra” cameras. Not sure I’ve ever really used them. Very little situations require ultra wide pictures. What camera features am I missing? The 17/Air/pro all have camera control and duel video and new selfie camera
Interesting. If you aren’t a photographer or photo enthusiast, I can understand how one can look at the iPhone Pro or PM and “not get it “, but, if you are more into photography, the Pro or Pro Max is where it’s at.

I upgraded from the 14 PM to the 17 PM. Love it. And no, it’s not too heavy. If you find it too heavy, I suggest a gym membership. /s 😆

My iPhone 17 PM is much lighter than my Nikon D810, battery pack and 70-400 lens. It’s all relative.

Yes I mean even the 16e has 48mp so really for the photos I take all the latest iPhones take the photos I look for. I do worry they will discontinue the Air like the mini or plus. But yes too much choice this year the iPhone 17 is most boring model as those features have been on the Pro for years.

This is ridiculous imo. The pro and pro max are not too heavy. My problem with the Air is that it’s a gimped phone that diminishes the experience. I’m sure it’s fine for some, but in no way, shape or form does it compare to the pro models. I personally believe it’s the worst phone in this year’s lineup and I’m surprised Apple put its name on it. It’s one of the worst smartphones on the market.
"One of the worst smartphones on the market..." Unless you want a thin and light iPhone made out of titanium that is 😆

I’m returning the 17 PM and getting a 17 Pro. They 17 PM is actually a bit lighter than my 14 PM but it is a large, bulky phone and I don’t have large hands. The 14 PM fit nicely and I think that the 17 Pro will as well.
