Three years on, my ipad is still off-gassing new factory smell when I take it out of the drawer. I'm sure that odor can not be healthy.

What about the McDonald's 'Big Mac'?

That's true, and trademark violations usually come down to whether the product is in the same category or could be misconstrued as being a product from that company. I think Apple could make an argument that people might think this candle was sanctioned or co-developed with Apple. Not that I think they should, but Apple has historically been pretty aggressive about protecting their trademarks.

This actual Smell of a new iMac is caused by the packing film/tape. The film/tape is developed by 3M. You can go to your local Walgreens and buy some clear 3M medical tape and then....yup it smells just like a new Mac. They also have a huge roll of 3M tape at Staples and Sams Club and it will literally make the whole house smell like a new Mac. I always have a roll inside my Nissan Rogue. It smells fantastic.
I'm almost afraid to ask, but... are you serious?

It's weird, because Mac aside I just find the smell to be utterly pleasing and I would not mind at all to get 3M medical tape for that reason, knowing that the other 3M products I've had have been great adhesives to begin with.

1 > I'm reasonably certain when MR Users wished for more MAC news over iPhone this isn't what they had in mind :rolleyes:o_Od

2 > I'm skeptical that replicating new Mac smell is doable given many products share similar "new smell"
I swear this reminds me of a YT vid of weird perfume or body spray scents:rolleyes:

Lighting a candle for Apple's computer business.

Why is this a Mac rumor?

Because there are no Mac rumors.
[doublepost=1475669083][/doublepost]It probably needs an adapter to light it.

It's the 3M clear film that are on the products. The film naturally smells that way.
There's hardly much natural about the smell of chemicals.

Scratch-and-sniff Apple-Bottom Jeans. Lol

Calls girl over, scratch at her jeans and sniff.

This could be the start of something

There are plenty of forums on the internet talking about sniffing girls' bottoms. I rephrase... I heard that there are plenty of forums on the internet talking about sniffing girls' bottoms.

Why is this a Mac rumor?

It's a Mac rumor because there haven't been any rumors about actual new Macs in ages, so we have to make do with a candle that smells like a new Mac. This is the closest we're going to get, for the foreseeable future...

Good marketing; they spotted the gullibility of Apple fanboys prepared to spend, spend, spend.

Was reading and watching a video on these.

They sold out instantly!

Geeez there must be quite a few prize plonkers out there.

Darn looks like I missed it before they all sold out. Hope they get it back in stock soon!

I love the scent but it really only works in combination with unboxing new stuff. Can't see myself keeping that candle lit for very long.
