MP 1,1-5,1 Cannot install or use Nvidia Webdrivers anymore!

How do I get to High Sierra build 17G14042?

If you do a clean install of 10.13.6, you will have the build 17G66. To fully update 17G66 to the 17G14042 build required by the re-signed and working NVIDIA webdrivers, you'll need to first do the Security Update 2019-005, reboot, then do the Security Update 2019-006 and finally reboot one last time.

Will NVIDIA re-sign any other past webdrivers builds, I need build x.y.z?

It's a question for NVIDIA to answer, but right now the only Webdrivers version re-signed and made available to download was the 387.10.10.10.40.140.

If you need a different build, you can try to open a support ticket with NVIDIA and ask for it.





It all started with obvious loss of driversupport for my 1080. I had a picture, but obviously unaccellerated. Dragging windows left traces on the screen etc.

So i tried to reinstall the drivers. But everytime i doubleclick the package i get this error:

And by clicking the questionmark, this note shows up:

Is there any solution for this or is installing NV-webdrivers just not possible anymore. Not even for High Sierra.

Hi same problem here, is there a fix on this Or is this at a stand still? I re intalled my High sierra like suggested and then installed the security updates like you said but it only got me to the build 17G9016, how do i get to the the build 17G14042? and even if i do, will i the drivers work my 1080 ti? Thanks so much!

I used 2020-005 then 2020-06 security updates to get to 17G14042.

NVIDIA is only supporting the very last version of High Sierra that Apple released. The one that is supposed to be the most secure. It makes sense that NVIDIA won't go to the trouble of making drivers for earlier, buggy versions of the OS, that even APPLE abandoned years ago. Update to the 13th and last version, by installing updates 5 and 6. That is the only way to get to "17G14042" released November 12th, 2020.

Makes sense, thanks for responding. Would you know how I can access those updates?

Nvm I believe you meant security updates 005 and 006 right? If so, I was able to download 005 just now but when attempting to install 006 it gave me the message "... can't be installed on this disk. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update." This message appeared for both my main boot drive and all of the other hard drives I have connected....

Have a question, I don't have a CC backup and I'm unable to login because of the driver signing issue. I want to save my data and start from the exact same point, how do I do the required security updates to the installation (to update the driver) and resolve this issue. Any help would be appreciated.

Build: High Sierra 10.13.6 17G66 Clover. Issue is same as described in this reddit post.

I'm facing this very same loading screen after installing the oficial nvidia drv.

Correction: To get build 17G14042 you need Security Update 2020-005 and 2020-006

NOT 2019, if you do this you will get build 17G9016

I contacted nvidia via the same support website and they did not provide a driver, saying their developers are working in it. I also tried live chat and the agent had never heard of this problem and couldn’t help.
 
Thinking this issue had been resolved I booted connected to my network and encountered the dreaded "verifypolicy" and "deletecredentialset" loop. I booted with my Olarilla USB installer and went into Recovery mode. Olarilla includes ethernet drivers so I was able to reinstall High Sierra over the web. All programs and preferences were retained (minus the nVidia drivers of course), so my hackintosh is up and running again, sans nVidia drivers.

Keep trying, eventually you'll get someone who knows what they're doing. (which is typical of tier 1 support)

Just tried again and was given the same response almost instantaneously. I wonder if Apple have noticed and applied some pressure to NVIDIA to stop sharing a driver.

This was like magic. Immediately noticed the Nvidia icon in menu and all seems good(!).
 
Since June 2 I have had the same experience as all others writing here, except -- I did not update or try to fix anything other than remove the offending video card and reinstall my original ATI card. Pressed for time, I was going to fix everything when I had the time.

On June 28 I moved to a new home. On July 1 I finally found time to set up my computer again. The only thing that changed in my setup was the service provider, formerly AT&T, now Cox.

Now to what has changed: my original Nvidia driver (WebDriver-387.10.10.10.40.128) may be OK now (Driver Manager works) and I once again get the CUDA panel at startup which tells me no GPU was detected. I downloaded the driver .pkg file to check and see if it was functioning and it wants to continue the install.

So something has been changed/fixed, either by Nvidia or Apple. I don't have enough time right now to reinstall my GTX 1070 to test it (maybe next week). I just wanted to mention this in case others have more time to look into it and verify the change.

This morning, I updated Cuda driver 387.178 everything back to normal.
Mac Pro 6.1 Sierra 10.12.6
GPU 2xGTX 1080ti

I will choose a PC as my desktop as I believe a workstation should have moduality that Apple so far have not provided with the ARM Macs. I also think Nvidia and AMD have more tech focused support than Apple. The day Intel macOS ends is the day PC hackintosh ends.

But I will stick to macbooks fo my laptops as I need macOS to play and use. I also MUCH prefer macOS to Linux and Windows.

Would anyone know why I can't install security update 006?

It gave me the message "... can't be installed on this disk. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update."

It showed this for my main boot drive and all of the other hard drives I have connected....

You need to install 005 first.
 
No go here either. Security update, even NVIDIA text chat. I got a email from them sending me the same link that is no good.

I'm also stuck on Sierra and have the same card, and the script provided in post #461 seems to have sorted things out for the time being, even though it threw up an error at the end. I have no idea how long it will hold, but I have had no problems for nigh a month. It may be worth a try.
