Same problem, but morphed?
OLD PROBLEM: iTunes (ver 10.4.0.80) was running and syncing, but after syncing it gave me an error message:
The iPhone, Ed's iPhone, cannot be synced. Unknown error occurred (13019).
After I changed some Settings and turned off updates of photos or songs, iTunes-Sync no longer gives me that error message, but does not seem to sync properly.
All my software is updated to the latest and Apple-Care Diagnostics does not indicate any problem; I saved it log.
NEW SYMPTOMS OF MAYBE THE SAME PROBLEM
I spent hours merging and deleting about Google Contacts on my PC, getting 'em down to 775.
On my iPhone 3GS SN 859364J63NP, model MC135LL, iOS ver 4.3.5(8L1),
I changed Settings by: Settings > Mail, contacts, calendars > Account (contacts, calendars)
Mail off
Contacts on
Calendars on
Under Settings > Fetch New Data I turned PUSH off.
This seemed to have eliminated all previous Contacts accessible on my iPhone via Groups >:
1) 'On My iPhone>' 'All on My iPhone.'
2) 'Exchange' 'Exchange Global Address List>'.
'Exchange' Contacts>', however, has 890 Contacts, i.e, 115 old, mostly duplicate contacts that I do not want and have eliminated on the PC.
At the bottom of iTunes > Info Tab> Advanced, it reads During the next sync only, iTunes will replace The selected information on this iPhone with information from this computer.
This, to me, means it should delete all my Contacts on my iPhone and replace them with the Google Contacts on my PC. Under Advanced, I check Contacts, but no replacement occurred, no error message, the phone was left with the same 115 unwanted items.
How do I eliminate them from the iPhone and avoid getting them back?
Syncing seems to run without error, but does not eliminate on the iPhone the contacts I eliminated on the PC.
A possibly related problem is that iTunes now has a header Previous iTunes Library. I have not been able to find out how to load another, more recent, Library file.
Thanks for any tips, Ed
