When during the installation some program called <DLSR> or something similar is popping up => ignore it, then any driver from Canon (US, Europe, e.t.c.) is working. I've spent myself a week to make the scanner installed.

I've tried several (including UK) drivers and all with the same bad file results. Guess the next time (in about 2 weeks) I go to my parent's I will reinstall OSX 10.4 and then try to install the driver. If that fails I'll buy them a new (HP or something) scanner and I stomp on the Canon until it's innards are outards.

I've found a solution that makes it working.
I have a MacBook Unibody under 10.5.5.

I've used only French versions of the drivers.

I've first downloaded the ScanGear CS Driver and stopped the installation of the "bouncing app" as i've seen somewhere.
It made the software install.

Then, i've installed CanoScan Toolbox, I clicked on "Settings" and selected the LiDe 25. And then it worked.

Thank you all and sorry for my very basic English, I'm French.

Paul.

Problem solved

Ridiculous indeed. This is exactly what FINALLY solved the problem for me. Thanks. For emphasis,
1. delete the old US version if you've already tried to install it: MacintoshHD>Library>Image Capture>TWAIN Data Sources>CanonScan*
2. go to european site http://software.canon-europe.com/ and download that driver version
3. run the install program
4. unplug the scanner before restarting your Mac.
5. plug it back and try again

Wow, ridiculous, but solved (for me).
I'm running OS X 5.2 with Intel Duo and my Canoscan liDE25 scanner has refused to work for months - lack of driver.
I took the advice above and, from the main Canon global site, navigated to the same driver-downloads page for the liDE25 in various countries.

The various countries have different updated versions of
lide25osx11030en.dmg (the en being ENglish language)
France's most recent works!
lide25osx11030fr.dmg (the fr being FRench language)

don't bother with
United States (en.dmg)
Australia (en.dmg)
Germany (de.dmg)

The one from Hong Kong looked promising as far as being the most recently updated, but the French one is working (although I get notifications in French) on Image Capture.

Thanks everyone. I was tearing my hair out after getting a new MBP and not getting my scanner to work! The information here helped me get it working!

Got it working

man, what a spastic piece of software. I found this elsewhere
Access the Canon Website and download & install the driver again.

http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/c...oadDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=351&modelid=11463

IMPORTANT! If during the install a window pops up regarding "Delsg...", do not continue from that point. Just quit that portion of the installation. Delsg is the uninstall program for the driver that is included with the download. For some reason, Mac OS X 10.5.x is automatically launching after the installation completes.

IT UNINSTALLS ITSELF!

I ended up just using vuescan which also worked. haven't tested the method i just posted, but it makes sense.

Thank you very much for your help guys!!! I just installed successfully and start to use the scanner now^^

My macbook is Mac OS X 10.5.6. i first cleaned up all the files that i downloaded earlier, and then downloaded and installed the appropriate driver from the canon-euro-official webpage. Just like xiatica say, DO NOT OPEN the 'Delsg'. When it finished downloading, i restarted my Mac WITHOUT the scanner plug into it. Until Mac was on, I then downloaded the toolbox and it finally worked.

thank you so much for this solution! I was going nuts trying to figure out why the driver wasn't working... you have to make sure you quit the bouncing icon that says "Delsg", just right click it while it's bouncing and select "Force Quit" and the driver will finally work! thank you!

Ya!

Man, I was about ready to fedex a scan of my nuts to canon (using an HP scanner of course) but canceling 'delsg' did the trick! I love it! Their installer breaks their install.

I thought the abusive relationship was over! I was on the way out the door to buy a better scanner that doesn't get all Chris Brown on me... But now I can't justify the spend...

Just in case, can anyone recommend an awesome mid-range scanner that just works?
