That is what irks me most; the story sounds quite good. I just wish everything around that was better (for me at least).

Fear was good. Another responsive and fast shooter.

Jimmi, I'd give it a shot. I just played for about two and a half hours and I'm in the area after the demo - it's really interesting how they have multiple parallel story threads that intertwine and are revealed exclusively through audio diaries that you pick up along the way. It's dark and really very well done.

Oh, and the second level is much more open than the demo. They basically provide you with an entire building complex and allow you to work through it at your own pace, uncovering things as you go. Not quite 'A to B', much more like a dungeon in Zelda.

I second gloss's call. Give the game a chance. If I had gone off my initial impressions of the first Shock and not played past the first area, which was pretty bleh, I would have missed out on one of the greatest gaming experiences and not had anything to constantly ramble about.

PLAY THE GAME!!! If not now, later. :) And speaking of great games, have you played RWii4?

<]=)

after long thought I have decided to get this game off of Steam for my mbp. At max everything, 1280x720 it's pretty solid, not quite silky smooth but darn good and at $49.99 US? hell yeah put that $0.96 Canadian dollar to work (over the $69.99 tag for the 360 retail.

I just finished the demo (finally) and am stoked now :D

I'll keep my eye on BS (lol), hopefully they'll fix the control issues. Despite a smooth framerate I still had mouse lag and it just threw the experience out the window. AND IT ANNOYS ME. I would love to love this game! I try and play all the big non-WW2 FPS games, even Quake 4... urgh.

RE4? Not yet :) just graduated and I'm job hunting, soon as I get somewhere I'll treat myself to RE4 and splash out on a cellar full of VC games. I know I'll really like RE4. Even my Caroline adores it and she's not all that into shooters!

It's a little OT but I wish MS would at least enable their own mice and keyboards on the 360. It would give my Habu a nice little killer feature. :D

Resident Evil 4 is really great, I played the worst version of all (PS2) but it was still an incredible game. I wanted to replay it a few months ago but someone thrashed my DVD and now it was unreadable :(

And www.tweakguides.com should have a guide up next week, who knows, there might be a tweak or two to fix your control issues and whatnot.

I got one of the last 2 unreserved copies of Bioshock at Gamestop :D
My friend and I played through the first couple levels. It is amazing! The hacks do sometimes feel a little repetitive, and I have had to fight way to many Rosies; but still the sheer number of upgrades/plasmids/genes that can be acquired and used in combination is staggering. If you own a 360, buy this game.

I'm actually a big fan of horror shooters, especially the ones with interesting plot like F.E.A.R. (have you played that?). I'd be dissapointed if Bioshock feels like Doom 3.5 though, I'm under the impression Bioshock is a game with great atmosphere and setting, great plot and some amazing combat (the three things that made me love F.E.A.R.).

I was thinking about getting F.E.A.R, but when i played the 360 demo, it looked very dated. The atmosphere and combat seemed top notch, but the setting just seemed repetitive and made up for a lack of depth and detail by simply having a lot of dark spots. I have heard it is better on PC, but i don't have a computer that could handle it. I suppose I'll have to wait for F.E.A.R 2 (or whatever they are calling it now...)

I'm glad you got your copy of Bioshock and enjoyed it.

About F.E.A.R., yeah I've played it on the PC and yes the settings are very repetitive but there IS detail and some interesting locales (it is not all dark like Doom 3), what made me enjoy it so much where the "fright scenes" and the plot, especially the fright scenes, not all are particularly scary (and some are crap-your-pants worthy especially if you play at night alone with headphones) but they are all amazing to experience and the plot unfolds really nicely.

To be honest, when playing F.E.A.R., I was all excited for the next "fright scene" and plot development and getting from fright scene A to fright scene B turned to be pretty fun with the incredible combat system.

To me the real appeal of F.E.A.R. was it "psyche" factor and its plot. Combat is really fun as well but in the end I was just playing for the next scary scene and to see how the story progressed. The combat you experience in the first acts is pretty much the same as in the later ones, the setting only really changes in the later portions of the game and not in a dramatic way.

And what you'll be waiting for will now be called Project Origin, not a big fan of the name but the game will be awesome so it doesn't really matters.
