I downloaded all games from Steam but it just show only black screen with spinning curser. Why is this happening?

I wonder if it's the 480. Did you have to do anything special to install it? According to this it should be working fine with L4D2: http://barefeats.com/sierra_rx480.html

It's probably a Source engine problem though. Try playing a non-Valve game. If it works, then verify the cache of the games via Stram and try again. If that still doesn't work then I'd uninstall the source games you have installed and then reinstall.

Also, are you giving it time? Valve games
can load slowly and show the cursor like they've hung, but they're really loading.

Well I tried all of those methods and never worked.

Try running them in windowed mode. Right click on them in steam, go to properties, and in set launch options type -windowed in the line.

Window mode is not working and I had to shut the computer down cause it doesn't respond at all.

Huh. Force quit didn't even work? (Command-option-Escape.)

How exactly did you uninstall/reinstall them? Since they are your only two games, the only other thing I'd suggest the nuke and pave method. Delete the Steam app and the whole steam folder in user/library/application support and try again.

Since these are Valve games, you may have better luck at the Mac Steam forum. I'd suggest contacting Valve but we all know how their support is...

Yeah it didn't work at all.

Let me try to delete all steam apps then.

I did that but it showed warning sign and then shut downed by itself.

I had a similar issue on my Mac Pro with Sierra just on the valve games.

To solve it

Right click Counter Strike and select properties.
Select the local files tab and hit the verify files button.

In my case, it said it was missing one required file (probably something with Steam) and it re-installed the file.

I then was able to see / play Counterstrike after starting it.

I'm using a AMD Radeon HD 7950 video card.

It didn't work at all. I assume that my gpu is not yet supported for MacOS then.

It isn't officially supported, but that shouldn't be the issue. In the link I provided above, Barefeats tested L4D2 with your card and Mac. And it's working fine for the OS and Unigine.

One thing I'd try just for testing purposes is to install the game in a new user account and see what happens. Did you try the Steam forums?

Could possibly be the problem.

I initially tried to run it and I got a dark screen for 5-10 minutes before I started hearing the music (it was still dark and I was forced to quit) (i.e. Let it run with a dark screen for a long awhile until you hear the music). I then ran the validation and it started working.

When I run either games, the app seem to be not responding all the time and I waited more than 10 mins and it didn't work.
