Can't recieve MMS from another carrier.

I am able to send/receive mms to friends on Verizon and at&t, haven't checked Sprint yet.

Edit: so Sprint apparently doesn't work at all. Sent one to a friend on Sprint and he sent one to me, that was 20 minutes ago, neither have arrived yet.

Edit2: About an hour later he finally received my mms, half an hour after that I received his. So Sprint works, but it's slooooow.
 
Did a complete reset, set up as a new phone, AT&T stuff is coming through but of course my gf is asleep, and all my friends arent answering my texts to send me a picture. So I guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow to see if it worked.
 
Can MMS to AT&T phones but not to Verizon

I have sent and received MMS to AT&T phones (iphone and non-iphone) and had no problem. When I tried to send to my friend who is on Verizon with a Blackberry she gets an error if I send her a picture and I never receive the pictures she sends me. We can SMS with no problem. Anyone seeing that problem. I don't think it is my phone if it is working with AT&T phones....

The error my Verizon friend got was "Could not receive message content. Try again later." I wonder if that is just the network being busy?
 
Ok, just did a test with tmobile on a blackberry8520 ok my wife had her picture size settings on superfine 1600x1200, sent a pic and gave me a message

"One or more of the components have been deleted by MMS adaptation.Either the message was too large or the components were unsuitable for your terminal"

So i adjusted some of the camera settings to:Small (640x480) And it went thru with no problem. kinda sucks because her camera is a 2mp.

any one else having this issue????
 
Carrier file 5.1 to 5.5

Guys, it seems to me that this is clearly an att issue. I was previously using carrier file 5.1 to use mms for the last couple months (used the sim card in another phone trick). I never had any trouble sending pics to other phones including other networks. Once the official release came i saw no harm in updating. Turns out as soon as i updated, my mms's to the same verizon friends were not going through. They get the message every time but with some sort of message telling them they cant get the file i sent. Seems pretty simple to me. It worked perfectly on 5.1. ATT just might have purposely changed something with 5.5 to ensure bandwidth isnt eaten up. Pretty fishy if you ask me. A hacked 5.1 worked perfectly, but their official release doesnt? hmmmm.....
 
I was having the same problem - could send, but not receive MMS from Verizon. Spent a few hours on the phone with AT&T and Apple (AT&T forwarded me to Apple support...). My call was 'escalated' on Monday, but before I actually spoke to that person, it suddenly started working on Tuesday. Haven't tested today.

For anybody who was told that the sender needed to call Verizon, that's wrong - AT&T's network services team should work directly with the Verizon equivalent.
 
same here:

over the weekend i had a friend out in Vegas and she sent me pics but i never recvd them....she could recv mine but i would not get hers..

dont know if it was the MMS rollout or that she is blonde and was drinking at the hard rock pool

had a friend test it yesterday locally.....it worked fine...
 
i called AT&T

hey i'm new here, but i did call At&t and was told that its has something to with Verizon. my gf who has their service can receive my mms but when she sends one to me, i don't receive it at all.

not sure whats going on.


*********my friend who has verizon sent a mms and i was able to receive yet i cant get one from my gf.



p.s. still love my iphone regardless
 
I called AT&T yesterday to have them check my settings out, they were fine but the tech support guy was really cool and reset them anyway. For a little while I was able to recieve MMS from Verizon people but it didnt last long, so I have no clue what's going on. He did tell me there are issues like this still trying to be fixed so I guess if it's not working for you much like me, you and I are both in area where the network is still screwy.

Just to let everyone know, I'm in upstate NY (Utica, NY) about 40 minutes east of Syracuse.

so he didnt' forward u to applecare like others were saying.
 
i called att and they said updated some stuff, but anyway. i can get pics from regular verizon phones apparently it seems like its a blackberry thing.
 
Tried again today...

My friend who has a Blackberry on Verizon (in Phoenix) still can not receive or send any MMS to me on my iphone (in Atlanta). I can receive and send to any AT&T person. She didn't get an error today, it just was not received and I never receive any picture she sends me.

for me its they get mine i can't get theirs, but its only verizon blackberry.
 
Update. Any verizon phone that isn't a blackberry can get my mms and I also get theirs. For some reason it's only happening with my one friend and her verizon blsckberry. She get my message amost all the time but I rarely get hers. I hear verizon blackberry is actually on a diff network than regular verizon phones. Idk if that's true anyway I'm not sure if it's only a verizon black berry thing. My friend with spent blackberry sends and receives to me fine. So I don't know. It might just be a verizon bb thing. Anyone else got any update on this
 
Solution To Not Receiving Mms Messages

I spent an hour on the phone with the tech support. Apparently, ATT has a 600kb limit on their mms messages. So if you don't receive it, its because its over 600kb.

Had the tech guy send an mms message to a verizon friend, she forwarded it and it came through, but any other pictures of hers wouldnt. we found it her pic was over 600 kb and the tech support said that is why.

so it's not verizon,.

who said size doesn't matter?
 
i think the network still needs work for mms. i think it may be verizon that needs to fix to send to iPhones. maybe since iphones didnt' have mms before the mms sometimes or lost or maybe it gets sent as a "view my message", but since 3g and 3gs probably have that disabled maybe it doesn't come through. idk.
 
so far i can receive mms from verizon but when i send them the never go thru...
 
thats weird. i can always send to verizon and get from verizon except my one friend and only her her bb on verizon doesn't always send to me. must be her phone cause her brother with a bb on verizon same phone works!
 
My friend has an LG env 3 and i can't receive her messages. She gets the pics from the iPhone fine. I'm asking some other verizon friends to send me pictures to see if it's just my plan or something. I get pics from my sister's non-iPhone fine but we're on the same family plan. This issue seems to be pretty random, except for the blackberry issue that people have described.

edit: my other friend has a samsung phone and i received her message quickly. i'm checking with the LG friend to see how big the picture she is sending is. it might be that there is a size limit as someone else had said previously.
 
Progress

I just went into the camera options on my VZW BBerry Tour and changed the picture size to medium and the quality to fine. Works for me now.
