On a more serious note, I have a hard time with my iPhone 4S when I'm wearing sunglasses. I remember the first time I tried it, I almost panicked thinking oh god...what's wrong with this 1 month old phone? the colors look awful and the screen is so dim....then I realized..sunglasses...

Wearing the sunglasses upside down will reverse the polarity.

Why did you revive a one year-old thread? Especially since wearing the glasses upside down doesn't reverse the polarity. You'd have to wear them sideways to do that.

If anyone wants a technical explanation of why you can see your iPhone but not your iPad with polarized glasses, it's because of the pixel orientation of the iPad's screen. On the iPhone, the sub pixel lines are oriented vertically, so polarized glasses let that light through. On the iPad, in portrait mode, the sub pixel lines are oriented horizontally, so polarized glasses block the light.

My sunglasses are polarized which makes it hard to see the screen when I'm outside unless I hold my head at a strange angle. Besides getting a spare pair of non-polarized glasses, is there any other solution? A screen protector etc?

What is the difference in the screen on the iPad vs my iPhone... My iPhone does not suffer the same issue.

I have the same problem with the digital displays in my car. Annoying isn't it?
