Maybe I'm confused but wouldn't you just install this on your iPhone X? Then you would do Software Update via Settings on the iPhone X?
Click "Restore Images". There is no iPhone X build for iOS 11.2 available, which is why he is not seeing it in software update.

Using the second method, if I downgrade now it won’t ask me to restore? So I can go to 11.1, make a backup of my current state and then create a new one?
That's what I just did with my wife's... She was on 11.2... So I deleted the 11.2 backup. "Upgraded" her software to 11.1 via iTunes, and then created a new backup once 11.1 was installed... Now it is an 11.1 backup in iCloud... As soon as her X gets here today, I'll be able to restore from that 11.1 backup.

For my phone, I will just be setting it up as a new, so no need to worry about a backup for mine.

to add to this if it wasnt answered, after downgrading you have to delete your old icloud backup on 11.2 and re backup on 11.1, it doesnt let you use the 11.2 under any circumstance

I’m not quite sure what you’re asking here. But you will need to downgrade your existing phone, then make a new backup, then restore the new backup to your new X. If you have already set up the X without restoring a backup then you will need to go to settings, then general, then reset, then erase all content and settings to wipe it. Then you’ll be able to go through the initial setup on your X again and restore it from backup at that time.

Ok, it’s pretty hard to explain but I’ll give it a go. My IP7 is now on iOS 11.2 beta, my latest backup is from last night. I know I can’t take that backup to my X but if I downgrade my IP7 will that backup stay? And then once 11.1 is installed I can just back up again so it overwrites the current one and then I can use that on my X?

Hopefully you understand what I am saying ha!

Can someone please walk me through the steps. My iPhone 6s Plus has iOS 11.1 beta and I want to use its backup to setup my iPhone X. I'm kinda confused right now. I think I should be glad that I didn't install 11.2 yet.

If you’re on the 11.1 beta then you have no problem. 11.1 has been released, so make sure your X has 11.1 and then just restore your backup

What all do you lose setting up this way? I’d prefer to restore from iCloud, but I don’t want to mess around with installing iOS 11.1.

Honestly, I’m hoping Apple pushed the update for the iPhone X. Say..10am or so?

installing 11.1 downgrade was simple and flawless, didnt loose anything and allowed me to make a fresh backup to restore the X from, its the best method to avoid issue

Cool. Will try this method out, thank you.

Was there a certain guide you followed?

The issue I have is my laptop doesn’t have enough hard drive space to backup my iPhone 7+.

Ok I will setup iPhone X as new? But how will I install 11.1 when website only has 11.2? Or do I initially setup iPhone X from backup of iPhone 6 and it will install 11.1 automatically? Am I making sense?

Well here's the article about this situation:

The last paragraph of the article answered by question:

"Out of the box, iPhone X models appear to have iOS 11.0.1 installed, so the iOS 11.1 update will need to be installed over-the-air or via iTunes after opening it up. When restoring from an iOS 11.1 backup onto an iPhone X, it appears the iOS 11.1 update will be installed on the device automatically."

I'm using iTune on windows so it's shift + "Check for Update".

Same. "Alt" + "check for update" on mac. Downgraded to 11.1 without losing data on the phone.

Edit: I'm also able to pair my watch on 4.2 beta to my new phone on 11.1.
