I've been looking at the Kensington LiquidAux Deluxe. It's got some good reviews.
I was looking at that one too - well, the one without the remote. My cigarette lighter is pretty low though, so I imagine I'd have to look down at the phone. With a vent mount, I wouldn't have to look down, just to the side, so I think it'd be easier to keep my eyes on the road that way.

I use a Pro-Clip for my ol' Nokia. So, now that I'm dumping that for an iPhone, I asked Pro-Clip about iPhone 3G compatibility:

Here's their response:

Thank you for your interest in our ProClip holders. At this time we do not have a holder for the Apple iPhone 3G. We do anticipate making one, however due to the large number of new products we are developing, we cannot give a specific date as to when this will be available. The new holders should be available before the end of August. You will be notified by e-mail as soon as the Holder has been received at our warehouse and is ready for online ordering.

I found this one at my local Walmart yesterday for $15:

Now I'm just waiting for my iPhone to arrive. Whoever was concerned about the cold/hot air blasting against it might have a legitimate concern. I saw one person on the internet say that he put a thermometer up against his vent and the hot air was 145 degrees. Another person said that he has had his phone freeze and reboot when mounted against the vent blasting cold air.

Just got confirmation from UPS. My Kensington Liquid Aux Deluxe will be arriving within moments (or hours UPS has until 6pm I think). I will let you know how it works with my 3g Iphone

Kensington Liquid Aux Deluxe Installed w. iPhone 3g

1. Slight hum over the Aux connection not a deal killer.
2. Music plays fine. Remote works
3. Charges fine and no Airplane mode message
4. Definitely needs a bluetooth speaker. The base where the phone connects covers the speakers and mic.
5. Flex Neck is a little short for my car but I can work with it.
