Getting lots of carplay disconnects since the new update installed. Did not have these before and the update supposedly to fix this issue
I returned iphone Air and kept 17 Pro so not sure if Air also affected as well
Was enjoying my phone before this update. hopefully it will be fixed soon

Have you tried deleting your vehicle from CarPlay and re-adding it? Also, if this is wireless CarPlay, maybe to a Reset Network Settings on your phone and then re-connect CarPlay.

Okay so I'm not going crazy! The past day or two, my iPhone would just randomly disconnect from my CarPlay and reconnect after a few seconds. My CarPlay is connected via a cable.

I'm on an iPhone 14 Pro, but have noticed the last 2 days that when I'm on CarPlay (wirelessly in 2019 BMW i3S) my phone gets very hot, battery dies quickly, and I think it's overheating because my podcasts periodically pause and/or the map screen gets a bit jittery. Going into Battery settings it does not show any particular app that's eating up the battery. Siri requests also seem to time out more often and I think it's because the CPU is so busy with something. Still gets hot with no destination set and no audio playing.

17 pro max and I was on IOS 26 and now IOS 26.1 Beta to see if it helped. I'm connected via USB-C (tried a few cables that worked fine with my 16 pro max) to my 2023 Bronco Sport and I get random lock ups and disconnect. Usually unplugging and plugging back in fixes the problem. On a rare occasion I have to reboot the phone.

CarPlay has become very unreliable on my two vehicles with the 17 Pro. 26.0.1 did not improve this situation for me at all. I'm beginning to wonder if it is a hardware limitation with the new wifi chip.

Can you clarify... Are you on 26.1 Beta 1, or Beta 2 (that was just released 1.5 hours ago)?

I have done everything down to resetting my phone and head unit. It still disconnects wired and wireless. 8.4 UConnect. Carlinkit wireless adapter.

I found a tiny OnePlus branded USB-A to USB-C cable years ago. I’ve been using it for that wireless adapter. For giggles I tried using that for wired CarPlay. Suddenly no disconnects. Huh?

Apple needs to fix this nonsense.

Same exact setup. Stellantis car with Uconnect (wired carplay only) with Carlinkit adapter. Rare ocassions I can listen a whole track without a CarPlay reset

I gave up with the Carlinkit for now. Use a Mophie USB-A to USB-C or Apple USB-C to USB-C. I haven’t had a disconnect in 300 miles of driving.

The USB-A to USB-C cable still going strong.

The Apple USB-C in the other car is now crashing constantly.

Wireless CarPlay constantly crashes.

This is a joke of a bug. It’s hilarious that we’re over a month in and it’s still unusable at random.

It’s been wacky since the 18. I’m not sure what Apple is smoking but yah it’s driving me crazy. Really annoying, and resetting, deleting car play connection only solved the problem for a few days and it starts it again. Times like these I wish I had a wired connection.

It’s been like this for months for me, and 3 different phones (iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 16, and iPhone air. It still happens on my air on the latest software.

My 13 mini never had a problem, 4-hour journeys without an issue. 17 Pro Max won’t stay connected for more than a few minutes - both on wireless. Wondering if it’s my Pioneer head unit and it’s just not compatible with newer WiFi standards.

same here but with cable. never had an issue with my iphone 16 pro max. now carplay disconnects after a few minutes. wireless for pandora and maps works fine but i dont have wireless carplay.

17 Pro, wireless CarPlay disconnecting every 5-10 seconds from my motorcycle aftermarket CarPlay unit. Worked fine with 16 Pro. I have a trip coming up, hope Apple fixes this before that.

for a few weeks i experienced pauses in my music over wireless CarPlay. If I delete CarPlay and play off of bluetooth only it works fine. It was fixed with the last iOS 18 update, but the CarPlay disconnects persist.

I am also having CarPlay disconnection issues. Not as frequent as other members are posting, but probably once every three days. My car is with wired carplay and I am using a CarPlay adaptor I got from Temu, though I don't think Temu has to do anything with it, as it seemed to work fine with Android phone.

FWIW, I was not able to connect via wireless CarPlay to our 2019 Honda Accord (17PM) with iOS 26/26.0.1; neither could my girlfriend (16PM).

I did updated to iOS 26.1 beta 3 and everything is working well. I’ve hopped off the beta train (did not install beta 4) and crossing my fingers that iOS 26.1 when released will work as well.

Mophie USB-A to USB-C cable crashed today. There’s just no permanent fix. Apple better get on top of this…wireless adapter still unusable so that doesn’t help either.
