Had CarPlay disconnect wirelessly for the first time in a BMW. This bug is advancing and no fix in sight. Even repairing my phone didn’t help. I had to totally restart the phone.

Also had the Apple USB-C and Mophie USB-A to C disconnects in the other vehicles from time to time.

This bug is advancing with no fix in sight.

Same exact setup. Stellantis car with Uconnect (wired carplay only) with Carlinkit adapter. Rare ocassions I can listen a whole track without a CarPlay reset
Ditto. Very annoying, I've gone through a few cables testing. Now I see it's not just me. Interestingly, I have not encountered in the Subaru, but all the time in the Stellantis (Jeep).

Don't have this bug with my iPhone and Subaru but I have others. There are certain songs that won't play. Also it sometimes starts up with a very strange screen that I have to press a bunch of buttons to get music to play. Didn't happen before 26

My new iPhone 17 is disconnecting from CarPlay too, on two different vehicles. It has iOS 26.1RC on it. I've been using CarPlay on both vehicles successfully for years, albeit with my old phone on older iOS. I guess time will tell whether it's the new radios in my iPhone 17, new iOS, or some combo that is unstable. I just hope it's fixable via software and they fix it. Rebooting my phone seems to stabilize it for a while.

My 17 Pro with 26.0.1 disconnects from Wireless CarPlay randomly and somewhat often. By often I mean 2 to 3 times over the course of 10 miles of driving around town. My old 14 Pro did not do this.

I toggle Airplane mode on and off and then manually select the CarPlay WiFi to reconnect. It’s enough of a pain that I just don’t even bother trying to reconnect during short drives.

26.0.1 did not improve the continual disconnections with wireless CarPlay for me. I've stopped using it mostly. When I actually need it, I use it wired, with a cable.

Deleted all my CarPlay profiles and reset the main one. Now I get 1x disconnects in a 10 min drive, vs every 40 seconds disc. Hope this weeks update helps with this.

That's an interesting suggestion. I'll try that and see what happens! As a note for anyone else interested in trying this, remember to "forget" on both the iPhone and the vehicle.

Yeah, that’s an important part! I had skipped that at first and only cleared phone side.

Forgetting on the car side has seemed to stop mine from disconnecting now.

Cautiously optimistic this holds 🙏

Turns out my pioneer doesn’t like new iPhones. Fixed it with a £20 dongle. All working great now
Same. I actually started running into problems on 18.0. They did something to the WiFi stack that uses more bandwidth or something and it causes older units to just struggle. My Pioneer unit would just crash and reboot a couple times per a drive using CarPlay. But Android Auto still works flawlessly with my Pixel. However, like you, I did pick up a newer dongle to test and that seemed to fix the problem.

Didn’t even make it out of my neighborhood on a 1 1/2 mile drive to the grocery store… two disconnects. And this is even after I completely erased/reset the phone after updating to 26.1

If this continues to happen with 26.1.x or 26.2, I’m going to sell my 17 Pro and just keep the 15 Pro (with iOS 18) going for another year. Never had a single wireless CarPlay drop with my 14 Pro or 15 Pro (skipped 16). Hope this isn’t an N1 chip hardware issue. I’m assuming it isn’t or the complaints would likely be more widespread/serious…

I’ve read some folks are saying the new widgets feature in CarPlay is causing wireless CarPlay to disconnect. I’m going to turn off widgets in CarPlay and see if that makes a difference. One thing I noticed yesterday is that after dropping, it took a minute or two, but CarPlay reconnected by itself. I didn’t have to toggle Airplane Mode. That’s a slight improvement.

crazy...mine is wireless and rock solid...no disconnects at all. It's been like this thru every single os26 beta up to 26.2 b1. Could it be vehicle specific? It may be that the auto manufacture is behind on CarPlay specs.

Also widgets are solid too on mine

Turning off the widgets didn’t work. Dropped before I’d driven two miles.

However, possible good news. After I connected to wireless CarPlay I went to settings and I turned off Low Data Mode, Private WiFi Address, and Limit IP Address Tracking for the CarPlay network connection. So far, zero drops. This only covers 5 restarts and about 15 miles of driving, but I would barely make it a mile from home before losing connection previously. If I don’t experience any drops to tomorrow, at least for my case, I think my connection woes may be over.

All of this after I factory reset the phone and reconfigured everything on iOS 26.1

Hopefully this helps some folks and hopefully I can report tomorrow that there are no more disconnects.

thats good news, but I keep all these settings enabled and dont have these issues. I wonder if Apple isnt playing nice with your vehicles wifi. Wireless CarPlay uses both the vehicles wifi and bluetooth...what model and year is your car?
