Why is it that whenever anyone with any amount of influence says something like this, it is automatically "stock price manipulation"? The fact that Apple IS grossly undervalued and someone like this simply pointed out the obvious, doesn't seem like some backhanded attempt at trying to pull a "pump and dump" scenario as much as it is someone with great market insight and intellect stating the obvious. Why would someone who is worth $20 billion just randomly come out and say something like this, only to try and make a few % points off his AAPL position? It isn't worth the time/effort/inevitable criticsim and cynicism and it isn't worth putting his reputation in jeopardy.

well this news seems to make apple stock rise and maybe will hit $500.
good thing I think, with a lot negative media coverages these days with how apple is doomed and gleamed that brought down the stock.

Something is up. He's saying this to manipulate everyone and make a profit. :)

Reminds of when AAPL dumped because analysts said it would because they thought that analysts said it would because they thought it would. Watch it hit $600 just because Icahn bet on it, not that I disagree with Icahn on AAPL being undervalued.

I guess because people don't trust Wall Street types. For sure if he was saying sell AAPL we'd have plenty of posts saying how he's right, Apple is doomed and Tim Cook needs to be fired. :D

Hmmmm does he know something we don't? There may be a huge surprise waiting for us on the 10th... :)

No such thing as huge surprises anymore. If something big was going to happen we would have already had supply chain rumours by now.

Icahn is probably making a long term investment while the stock is cheap.

Explain exactly how Apple could go private?

By buying back every share of AAPL not currently owned by them. Once they hit 51% of voting rights, they could vote to go private and buy the remaining 49% of shares.

Well, and we'd have plenty of post saying that there is manipulation and that the markets are corrupt.

And the likelihood of that is...less than zero.

Actually, I'd expect every single conspiracy theorist / Apple fan to come out and yell about greedy, corrupt investors and Wall Street being evil.

Carl Icahn -- does not look good for AAPL.

Heard lots of non sense with mentor graphics in OR and now DELL ...

not sure if he is good investor or not.

Your not sure if CARL ICAHN is a good investor?!? Warren is that you?

insider trading and manipulation

this is very wrong. these kinds of public statements from rich ******s are just them making themselves more money.
