I'm not going buy that. However, I do believe built-in car GPS totally sucks and except for getting quick directions home, way to time consuming to setup. THEREFORE, I think car GPS is more accurately describes as tech from 10 years ago.

That said, Apple Car Play with Waze is a vast improvement.

I will admit that while Apple Maps has greatly improved from previous iterations, having Google Maps and Waze along with Apple Maps provides a great flexibility of traveling options.

Additionally, in general defense of CarPlay, it might seem like an inconsequential feature, but it will automatically save where you parked your car once you disconnect CarPlay from your car, therefore making sure you don't lose your car... especially once you walk 10 or 12 blocks away in a downtown area.

My L exus GS is 13.5 years old and it has built in navigation.

I was all-in on upgrading at $199. At $400-500 it's only a maybe.

I would do the install myself, but I have another issue: I suspect using navigation through CarPlay does not make use of the absolutely fantastic Head-Up Display in my 2018 CX-9. Since I don't really plan to make much use of the other CarPlay features, the loss of the HUD navigation would seem to be worse than not having CarPlay.

I bought the CX-9 over a Honda Pilot because of that HUD, but I had no idea how much I would love it. It's fantastic.

It's a Mazda. Not that serious bro.

Miata stands out as being one of the best if not the best light weight handling focused car.

The rest of the Mazda brand is OK - good for what certain people are looking for, sporty relatively cheap, reliable cars; but not what I would consider super special.

Haven't seen that particular issue. Does this also happen across multiple vehicles... or is the your car the common denominator?

I don't have the same issues with my wifes car play. I have a Honda she has a Hyundai.

I've had multiple Mazdas and would buy again. I definitely see a Miata RF in my future, but it needs to get CarPlay first ;)

I have own 5 Mazdas, but I am unsure if I will get one again. I think they are over priced for what they are.

Another weird thing about Mazda is that they don't offer CarPlay on their base models. Most of the other car companies are making CarPlay standard.

If I was going to get a Mazda, it would be an RF. I looked into them already when I recently bought a new car. I would have gotten one, but already owning a similar vehicle, I needed a family-friendly vehicle more than another two-seater sports car.

After using CarPlay since 2015, it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me to get or not get a car. It really isn't that special imo.

Blast it, looks like my 2015 CX-5 does't qualify; 2016+ got Connect.

I just received a targeted email from my Mazda dealer to get CarPlay added for $399. However, I'm pretty sure my model year doesn't qualify so I think the targeting was fairly general, like to all owners of 2014+ vehicles. Since I have a service appointment coming up, I'll verify in person. I really much prefer CarPlay over the Mazda media system I have now.

We have CarPlay in our second car and I would love to have it on all cars, to have CarPlay be the consistent media interface. I rent cars when I travel and having CarPlay in a rental is preferred as I don't have to futz around with another brand's lousy media interface.

Just got it installed in my 2016 Mazda 6 sport today. For me it will be vast improvement over many aspects of the Mazda Connect interface. I have wanted map navigation that my wife can use while I drive and can not use when driving. Didn’t have mazda navigation. I like Siri working for various things and having an interface (ie iOS) that i am comfortable using.

It cost $400 plus tax as indicated and took an hour and half.

I find it easy to use and my iPhone Xs connected almost instantly once it was on the new USB

You’d be wrong. If you followed mazda3revolution forum you’d have long since seen the hardware required. Yes, it’s a swap of the USB hub and some other wiring.

They said it would only be free for 2018 Mazda 6.

you'd be the third person who needed to be right.

Where you get the part?

Some online dealer. Can't remember which one. The first one cancelled my order. The second place confirmed the order. I had to go to a mazda dealer site and copy the vin of a mazda 6 and put it in the notes of my order for them to confirm it.
