Just let me type in what I listen to and what I want to see.

I don't even remember how I first set up Apple Music two years ago.

But now can't you just use the Search tab to find the songs you want? Then favorite songs and make playlists?

Reading this thread... I'm not seeing all the problems other people are having with Apple Music. It seems pretty straight forward.

30 million songs... lemme go find 'em! :)

I get the impression that certain people at Apple really need to retire! These low level pieces of utter rubbish 'shows' can never be 'cool'. A total embarrassment!

Yes, but search is not ideal for anything more than 1 song. It's useable as is, I just think there's a more convenient way. I just want to open the app, hit play and hear songs I like, no searching or sifting. I have playlists I have made and listen to, but why even subscribe to the service if I just listen to my own playlists.

I use Apple Music to listen to music not search for music.

[doublepost=1501881911][/doublepost]Music App on AppleTV under browse with the big banner did not give it away ?

Since the show hasn't started, I hadn't looked yet. I was noting that it was not mentioned even though there have been many articles about the show.

You said it was the same people who complain about the pop music, I was just explaining why I complain about the music and not so much about the content. I have questioned why hip hop was the only genre that gets created content in the form of shows, but I'm not going to get into that.

Yes, having to sift through, every time I use the app is a hassle and unnecessary. Apple has never asked what music I'm interested in, I've disliked every rap/hip hop song that comes on if that's what you mean. I still have to navigate through the rap/hip hop to see top charts. The only 2 things in Apple Music that are not flooded with rap are my library and my custom radio stations.

I'm not trying to complain to you, rather explain why some people complain about the genre bias Apple has with Apple Music.

Just let me type in what I listen to and what I want to see. Problem solved. I understand that in my chill mix I get some rap and hip hop because I have some in my library. That doesn't mean I want to listen to new rap, just that I like a few rap songs.

Thanks for the dialogue!

The first time you use Apple Music it asks you to tell it about your music tastes. You can update this by clicking the profile icon. It starts with genres and then goes to specific artists. If you haven't done this, it explains why you are bombarded by music you don't like in Apple Music.

So do you want something like Pandora? Where you feed it your favorite songs and it builds a radio station?

Apple has a radio function... though I thought the whole point of Apple Music was 30 million songs on-demand.

Does Spotify do what you want?

No, I have 4000+ songs in Apple Music library and I don't want to convert them to another service if that's even possible.

I have nothing but positive things to say about the radio stations I've added. Sometimes they are a little off target but overall pretty good.

I want to stay with Apple, they are just making it harder than it needs to be.

Just brought up PotApps on aMusic. This is what Apple does instead of making computers? I'm disgusted.

Thanks! I'll go check that out and hopefully it stops all the unwanted music! If that's all it takes I feel pretty dumb for complaining.

I did fill that out when I signed up at launch but who knows what I checked.

Edit: Unfortunately, I apparently did select what I wanted at launch. It shows that I have removed the genres but they are still flooding the browse tab.

Yep, everyone at Apple is working on planet of the apps. They pulled all the engineers, all the execs, all the marketing team, all the software devs and even the Apple Store employees.

For people who like music, YES! There is a reason why MTV was so popular in the 80s. We all just wanted to see more of our favorite artists. Fans of these artists will enjoy this tremendously. Perhaps you should go back to yelling at kids to get off of your lawn ;-)
This is just a dumb argument. For one, pop music and celebrity worship are for people who can't be bothered to form their own opinions or musical interests. I didn't install a $2000 stereo in my car so I could listen to Taylor Swift or Adele. And even if Michael Strahan or Miley Cyrus were to sing along to Wolf Parade or Death From Above 1979, it would still be obnoxious pandering.

And I asked for OK Computer for my birthday after seeing Radiohead on MTV when I was a kid. Back when MTV was popular for PLAYING MUSIC and not producing garbage reality shows with recycled concepts.

"The show was designed with an "organic nature" and will feature some elements that were unplanned, such as the Cyrus family jumping in a bouncy castle at a kid's birthday party. "

Wow - I can't think of anything more organic than that! This sounds like a real POS.

I won't watch, but I'm not the intended audience. When I was in my late teens through my 30's I'm sure older people thought what I liked was pretty worthless. Heck, since most of it is available and I can re-watch it I think it's dreck. But I liked it at the time.

These days Apple worships celebrity culture no matter what it stands for. Sad really. Apple is the new Microsoft.

It's hard to be counterculture when you're the biggest. Steve Jobs came back and pulled Apple from the brink. He inadvertently ruined Apple by introducing the wildly successful iPhone. After that, Apple could NEVER AGAIN be the computer for the rest of us. (Hey, I was Amiga person, Apple was not counter-culture enough for me!)

I really cannot imagine Eddy Cook returning in th Apple Boardroom without a massive "Mehhh, are you the one responsible for this kind of **** stuff ? Do we really want this ?

I grew up in the 80s from my elementary to High School years and remember MTV extremely well, especially when it first debuted on cable starting with " Video Killed the Radio Star ". I can certainly say that MTV and Apple Music are not the same thing. What Apple's trying to do is a huge cluster of a mess. MTV, on the other hand, got it right in the first place.

They were the right channel at the right time at the right era. They had VJs circulating music videos all day and night without commercials, at first, and definitely did not do anything stupid like Carpool Karaoke. They did do reality shows later on, I believe, starting in the early 1990s. Right there, that was when MTV started to lose its essence and quality, just like Apple.

It was the 80s when MTV didn't try too hard to be cool. They had this raw edge to it in the early days, unlike Apple, and if I'm not mistaken, MTV was popular because the VJs were down to earth and relatable to my generation of that time. They were fortunate that the up and coming musicians they played in their videos became legendary stars such as Prince, Madonna, U2, Billy Idol, Sting, Metallica, Tears for Fear, etc. MTV got big because of those artists.

VH-1 followed suit after that as a competitor in 1990s.

Apple cannot touch what MTV succeeded in. This is run by execs in their 50s who are 'out of touch' with the youth of today. They THINK they know what they're doing but in reality, they don't. Hiring those Sony execs into their fold was a bit too late in the game and they shouldn't have wasted their time and money on Planet of the Apps or Karoake. These are garbage shows. I don't have Apple TV nor do I care to get one. I've Netflix on my Roku TV and it gets the job done without the fluff and crap, especially it's built in my SmartTV that has closed captioning options which I like.

Point being is that Apple Music is trying too hard to be like MTV as Jim Iovine has claimed. They need to drop the pricing on Apple or Beats Radio and keep it free and also do 24/7 live streaming videos so users can watch and listen. It would be like MTV 'reinvented' for the 21st Century but only online.

Apple Music is nothing but a ' try hard '. It comes off phony and pretentious with a terrible UI. Mashing Beats and iTunes into Apple Music was a huge, huge mistake on Cook's part. That should have never happened.

Maybe you shouldn't cite huge earnings calls when you want to argue with someone complaining about monopolies/duopolies.

I'm sick to death of Apple defenders using earnings and profits to explain away things despite the blunders Apple makes. It's almost like going with the argument of saying " my private part is bigger than your private part " when comparing to other competitors. Some people don't realize that Apple Music is a giant mess. I only stick with iTunes and my playlist into my iphone SE the old school way.

The blonde girl in the video has the seatbelt halfway down her arm, presumably in order to better display her boobs to the camera.

I also was around-sort of- when MTV started. I say sort of because few cable companies carried it and none in my area.

Here's a link to an NPR article about the Good Ol' Days of MTV: http://www.npr.org/2011/11/06/141991877/the-golden-age-of-mtv-and-yes-there-was-one

MTV was not an immediate success when it went on the air. Major markets like NY and Los Angeles did not carry it. At first it did not show much by black artists other than MJ and Prince. And it was owned by a division of Warner Bros, a media firm run then and now by middle age execs.

Based upon your comments you and I must be roughly the same age. In a youth driven culture, we aren't the ones who decide what is cool, at least not for today's youth. People who were 45+ didn't decide for us what was cool in the 80's. I'm not going to try and guess what will be the next cool fashion.
