When the iPhone 7 dropped, AT&T and Verizon offered a great trade in deal to get customers to upgrade. Verizon has an ad that reads ‘get our best iPhone launch offer ever’.

So who is in the know?
What does this potentially mean?
If Verizon does it... will AT&T?

Looking for a deal people!

I don’t know BUT I think when we had that $650 trade in we knew the day before preorder. I remember getting quotes from other places for my 6 and then the insane trade in just blew everything away. Hopefully we won’t have long to wait to find out.

This is great! I was hoping there will be a trade-in promo this year to blunt the price of these phones.

I will say, that deal for the iPhone 7 was incredible. My mom and I both got $650 for our 6's. Would love for this to be an option again.

Well VZW And ATT usually match T-Mobile with deals. This year T-Mobile doesn't really have a great deal, so I doubt the others will be as aggressive.

It is more than likely a bill credit of some sort with a convoluted roadmap. Option 2 is some kind of bundle on accessories "discounted" from an overinflated price. We will see tomorrow though.

That deal was incredible. I remember not wanting the 7 because the leaks said it was supposed to look like the X but It only cost me $200 to get a 7+ 128gb.

I signed up on the website to be alerted to their next offer but correct me if I'm wrong... Didn't the 'deals' start being offered after launch night/day? Could we pre-order our devices and then feel out the trade in deals after that?

My guess is they will require you to sign up for their unlimited plan as part of the deal. That would not be a good deal for me

Been with Verizon a while now and usually their deals have some caveat, like new line of service, device payment plan, must upgrade to unlimited plan, etc. I waited until Black Friday last year and got $300 Walmart gift card when I got my 8+. Target was offering $250, Costco had good deals too. Usually if you're willing to wait a bit there are pretty good deals to be had.

$300 for an iPhone 7 that has to be spread out over 24 billing statements (and you have to be locked into that carrier to get all $300) vs. the $235 Gazelle will give me now (and I won’t be locked into a specific carrier)? I know which route I’m going.

Don't you have to sign a new contract to trade up? If so it is not that good of a deal.

WTF? Have we not proven that contracts are totally fine in the last 10 years and ESPECIALLY with this new push for customers to pay full retail for their phones?

My AT&T Unlimited (circa iPhone 3G) is no more expensive than an unlimited plan offered now (remember when they went away?). My phone price has increased from $200-400 for a phone to $1000-1400. I have had countless conversations with friends and co-workers over the years that all agree. MOST people know what company works for them and which doesn't. I've been on AT&T for 9 years my wife on VZW for 12. A new contract wouldn't change our service but it would lower my phone price.

WTF? You need to chill. Others here may not realize that you have to sign another contract. I have been with AT&T 11 years and that is worth nothing.

Yeah you could lock in your trade in deal after the fact, not sure if it was revealed after preorders went live.

BREAKING:

Unlike other carriers, Verizon has a few deals going around. Here’s a rundown of those deals.

  • Buy an iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone Xs or iPhone Xs Max through Verizon, and you will get $700 off a second iPhone, as long as you purchase both on a Verizon payment plan and activate a new line. That offer is available to both existing and non-existing customers.
  • Guarantee of at least $100 trade-in value for customers that buy an iPhone Xs, Xs Max, 8, or 8 Plus. That discount will be applied over 24 months as bill credits.
  • Buy an iPhone on the Verizon device payment plan and get $100 off an iPad on a device payment plan, or $50 off an Apple Watch on a device payment plan.
  • Buy an iPhone, Apple Watch, or iPad, and get 25 percent off select Beats products.

Two questions on this:

1.) I asked this one on a separate thread, but will ask it here too. Could I add a new line of service, get the deal, and then cancel another, existing line? The line I would be cancelling does not have a payment plan attached to it (phone was paid off 6 months ago) and we don't care about keeping the number.

2.) Can we combine offers? For example, could I do the BOGO, trade in an old iPhone towards the cost of the full price phone, and get $50 off a S4 Apple Watch?

Any source? like the link to verizon website with this information?

I’m curious about this too. In theory, you could add a new line, transfer an existing line to the new one, then cancel the old one. In my case, I would move an existing iPad to the new line since I don’t care what number is associated with the iPad. I’m not sure if Verizon has some kind of waiting period with new lines where they don’t let you make changes for a certain amount of time to prevent things like this.

I think the biggest question is whether there is any stipulation about your line count changing.

I am surprised that carrier deals aren't being announced ahead of time. One would think they would in an effort to entice new customers.

I guess worst case scenario is the free/discounted phone could be returned and the new line cancelled within the first 2 weeks, if there are some weird stipulations to the deal.
