NopeI'm assuming it's just like Carrot in that you have to open the app to trigger a Live Activity.

I use Carrot Weather because it has a Dark Sky like interface as one of the styles. The weather sources (even Apple Weather) aren’t as good as Dark Sky was, but I’ve switched around and found some that work reasonably well.Me? I still miss Dark Sky’s interface.
Very true! I got sick of having multiple weather apps on my phone and the premium family is a great deal, $12 a year per person.Where do you see $70 a year? Please share.....
Version 6.0 is free with an optional subscription.
There are three subscription levels:
Built in weather app in IOS uses one weather source. Anyone who depends on the weather daily for work or pleasure will tell you ONE weather source isn't always accurate in different parts of the country/world . You can go to https://www.forecastadvisor.com/ to see this. Would rather pay money to have options (ie. I have a weather station and would like my local weather to come from that, not a weather source at an airport 15 miles away from me...... Carrot allows me to do this).
- Premium ($4.99/month or $19.99/year) provides additional features like weather data sources, notifications, maps, customization, widgets, and Apple Watch complications.
- Premium Ultra ($9.99/month or $39.99/year) includes all the features of Premium, plus rain, lightning, and storm cell notifications (where available), super-res radar (in the U.S.), Locations list forecasts, a weather maps widget, and quick data source switching.
- Premium Family ($14.99/month or $59.99/year) includes all the features of Premium Ultra, with the added benefit of being shareable with up to five family members via Apple’s Family Sharing service.
Not even close with what it says.Written by kids for kids.
Yeah, that really sucks. I wish Apple wouldn’t approve an app unless a lifetime option was available. If only they offered a lifetime premium option, not just subscriptions. Sigh.
This is why they can’t, and others have also said this.Yeah, that really sucks. I wish Apple wouldn’t approve an app unless a lifetime option was available.
They also have a free version…Read their FAQ....
"The subscription is necessary because weather data is very expensive. Without charging extra for the subscription, in just one year it would cost CARROT more to supply weather data than a single upfront payment for the app. So CARROT's Maker either had to charge via a subscription or not add these awesome features at all."
Answer is right there.
Because a lot of what can be done as a Premium subscriber incurs a cost for the developer. It would be like buying a car and paying once for a lifetime of gas. It doesn't work economically.WHY is it a subscription?! Just let me pay like $70 once for a lifetime of features!
Clearly you've never used it. Carrot is, hands down, the absolute best weather app you can find. Is it a little corny (if you want it to be)? Sure. But that's part of what makes it unique. So a weather app…for kids
Have the same grandfathered plan. Carrot Weather would probably be the only app where I would consider paying the new standard rate to support the dev. The app is well maintained, looks great, always gets new features and has been around for the long haul.Same 👍🏻
I miss the days of one-time subscriptions. Seems like almost every paid app I use has now gone to a monthly/yearly subscription now.Good to see the update. Would have liked to see a one time subscription.
