Live activity only via paid subscription. Hopefully Apple will enable live activity for weather and kill this app. Not only do you need a paid subscription, but you need the upgraded ‘ultra’ subscription. Bleeding you for every dime.
I hate the subscription model as well. There are few apps that are worth the subscription - Carrot is one of them!
I've been enjoying the snark for years ;)

Finally a feature I"ll use (Unlike the unmovable weather globe in their Vision app)

Bummer that there isn't a way to change the navigation service that it uses. The dev confirmed that it's using Apple Maps. Maybe someday we'll be able to change to Google Maps or Waze.

$40 / year to get the CarPlay app ability (amongst other things) seems rather steep to me. It would have been nice to see a smaller fee for those who just want CarPlay.
Hhmmm my shows $30 for the ultra. I have the family plan for $50 a year and well worth it for 6 people.

CARROT is one of those few apps worth paying for every now and then. The dev does top level work and always uses the latest featurs Apple offers.

Since Weather Line shut down I've been happy using Apple's weather app but that Live Activity might earn a subscription...

What is the issue here? Apple map's work just as well as Google's.

I’ve been asking Apple to implement this feature for years. For my wife and I, whoever is in the right seat has to look up the weather radar.

I’m wondering if I upgrade to the ‘Ultra’ tier for one month to try this out, if I can go back to my ‘premium mini’ sub, which is $3.99/year. It looks like I should, but I’ve been on my current plan for awhile and would hate to lose it.

I’m curious if/when Apple/Google will implement weather in their maps apps.

I used to love the Carrot app for it's witty jokes, but it really got on my nerves recently with it's obvious political bias in jokes (even though I specifically said "apolitical" in settings. I dunno, it just annoyed the crap out of me there, and I uninstalled it. Didn't really miss it.

Yeah, there’s settings for that.

Weather along your route is a useful feature and one I'm surprised Apple or Google haven't already incorporated into their respective Maps apps.

They'll be copying any second now... but you can't compete with your GPS calling you an idiot. That's the killer app feature there.

I admit to hating on Apple Maps since day one - but I have to confess that it's almost as good as Google maps now. It's been a minute since Apple maps took someone onto an airport runway or drove them over a cliff, confusing it's function with re-enacting the ending of Thelma and Louise.

Google Maps is just still 300X better for traffic rerouting and alerts. The only reason I use GPS 99% of the time is for that purpose.

I also hate the look of Apple maps, but that's a personal preference and not really a flaw with Apple maps itself per say. My eyes just don't grab onto that color scheme and look as well.

Anybody know if the app can forecast weather along a route ahead of time? (Like a few days before, showing the chance percentage)

I seem to now have a collection of navigation apps that I keep around for specialty uses: I like Apple Maps for navigation, Google for general traffic info, and Waze for the crowdsourcing. Thankfully Waze can run in background so I have two sources of alerts (Apple Maps and Waze). I don't really need yet another navigation app for weather, but guessing this is the loophole that is allowing them to show weather radar.

My original Apple ID that I used to purchase Carrot with pre-sub shows $30 / year with options to make individual feature subs. My new main ID only shows 2 plan options ($40 & $60) with no individual sub options.
That makes sense, I had it since 2016 or so.
