Living in LA, even though I see the appeal of this feature, the weather rarely varies here to the extent that it's crucial I see the weather between origin and destination in a maps app but definitely places that have much more inclimate and unpredictable weather this feature would be really useful.
Having only visited California, I could see it being useful for out of towners. Take a wrong turn into a valley and it goes from perfect to sweltering.

Kill the selling point for that feature then. It’s the only reason I downloaded the app.
I’m with them. Apple’s weather app has gotten so good, that I could quit paying for Carrot, but I just like them too much. There are so many options for how to lay out your weather and they just do a really good job.

They do have too many tiers.

For what it’s worth, Apple Maps does incorporate weather in the smallest ways. If you put in a destination, it will tell you if there is severe weather along the route. May not sound that much, but it means a lot in tornado alley.

Good to see this. But not happy with the premium subscription requirement. Will be nice if weather is incorporated in Apple and Google maps.

There is another app that does something similar to this weather over navigation called Weather on the Way :-

It has a Pro version that gives more detailed weather and lets you change the departure date\time for a forecast if you are travelling at a different time but its useable for free.

There is also MyRadar which has a CarPlay app that will show weather radars over a map around the area you are in with the option to scroll as well. Again has some pro options that you have to pay for but the free one works pretty well.

Weather along your route is a useful feature and one I'm surprised Apple or Google haven't already incorporated into their respective Maps apps.
I emailed that idea to Apple 10 years ago, as it was immediately obvious as a shortcoming. I guess the CA team didn't realize us in the Midwest have to dodge inclement weather on roadtrips routinely at Apple, so it was ignored. Too bad the feature is only available on an app that thinks silly abusiveness is a selling point to brighten anyone's day.

Sadly they have ways to push people to use their apps until they're barely acceptable, they have no real reason to improve them.

Anybody know if the app can forecast weather along a route ahead of time? (Like a few days before, showing the chance percentage)
Given Carrot alludes to making the weather you see, I'm sure she could ;-) The only issue I'd really see with that however, is the whole 90% chance city x is getting rain in the next hour. That isn't telling you 90% of the city will experience rain, just a very high possibility that somewhere in that region, a drop will fall over the next hour.

Yes the data would need to be somewhat geographically specific to be able to predict weather along a specific route. I’m pretty sure that specific data is out there somewhere, but I just don’t know if Carrot has access to it or if they can implement it. But that kind of info integrated into a route plan would be extremely useful for road trips, especially in the winter.

Do I understand correctly, that if one wishes to have weather along a route, one has to use whatever navigation service Carrot uses? As to the CarPlay app, does it continually show current weather data for the area you in, so long as the app is being used in CarPlay? The developer website doesn't mention any details with the new features.

I am on the Carrot Premium Ultra ($24.99 year) and the Carrot app is not showing up under Carplay customization apps.

Someone mentioned a $40-a-year tier, but the app is not showing that. On my version, Premium Ultra is the highest plan until you move up to a Family Plan.

Great app, I have Premium. Doesn't appear that I can have a widget by location?

I would love to have a US and a UK widget stack

Has anyone tried it? I finally had a chance yesterday & hated it. Admittedly, there wasn't any actual weather, but I asked it for wind velocity. The map sucks. I wish I'd taken a screenshot. There are no road names other than the road you are on & there is nothing but lines - no icons, indications, etc. The "weather" showed where I was (just a blue dot) with the wind speed.
There are essentially no settings. I already have the Ultra subscription so this cost me nothing, & Carrot is my main weather app (all of my watch complications are for it), but damn. I'm getting old now so I might not be aware of how to do something by tapping something on the screen, so if there's a way to make it look like a usable map, please let me know. I travel to cat shows, which are several hours away, & a lot of times I know weather might be a factor but I don't know when or how much, so I was really excited for this feature.
