I'm having issues with the most recent beta. Location and weather updates aren't updating sometimes at all.

I had to manually refresh to get my watch to update its current location and conditions. The watch was still showing last nights location and conditions as of 10 hours ago. The watch never updated since i was halfway home from work last night.

The previous build was working perfectly and I haven't changed the settings at all.

Didn't change anything with regard to how updates are handled, likely just a bug with watchOS. I've seen the same thing happen where complications just stop updating - a restart of the watch fixes it.

I'll reboot the watch. Haven't done that since first updating to watchOS 3 beta 6. Then I'll see how it goes today. Also getting this error.

That's another bug that should be fixed with a reboot of both devices. It doesn't really matter if the sync fails, though, the changes will still be synced over. I just wanted a way to visually confirm that the changes were synced over right then and there.

Rebooted both. Location info still not updating as fast as it used to in the previous version. I'll keep tabs on it through the day.

Had to go into the phone app and open it to have it set the info correctly to the watch. Never had to do that before.

Hey guys, been hard at work on the watchOS 3 version of CARROT Weather! I rewrote the app from the ground up to work with all of watchOS 3’s new background update features, so the entire app will feel much faster and fresher than ever before.

Plus, premium subscribers now get notifications! That includes rain and severe weather alerts, plus morning and evening reports with forecast details for the day ahead.

And last but not least, the complications got a bunch of huge improvements. There are a bunch of new ones, they update even more reliably, the complication customization screen on the iPhone got a big overhaul. And the complication settings are no longer shared between all watch faces - in other words, this means you can display different data points on different watch faces!

There’s lots more detail in the blog post, including info on the new iMessage app and the new customizable widget.

Thanks for all your useful feedback on here earlier this year, you guys played a big role in making CARROT’s watchOS app as awesome as it is now. Keep the suggestions coming!

Been running this on my 3 beta and I LOVE IT!
For the Premium Users Notifications - Does this indicate that you don't need the macOS app to "send" these? Well know that I read the Blog Post, that answers that! Is there any benefit to having the mac app (except for having it on the mac itself) for Iphone/Watch etc?

Yes, no MacOS needed anymore. Can't wait to get these, as well.

No, no additional benefit to keeping the Mac app running if you have an Apple Watch. So you don't have to worry about leaving your Mac powered on to receive notifications anymore!

Is it necessary to have Background App Refresh turned for Carrot (or indeed any other apps) in the Dock?

Background App Refresh on the iPhone is used as a backup to ensure that the weather data is kept as up to date as possible. The Apple Watch, for one reason or another, might not update exactly when it's supposed to, so if the Watch's scheduled update gets delayed and the background app refresh fires first, that means you'll get your data that much sooner.

So in other words it won't be a big deal if you turn it off, but it can help every once in a while. Especially if you're on wifi (which is really the only time I ever notice background app refresh firing anyhow.)

Thanks for the reply. I was referring to the Background App Refresh setting in the Watch app on iPhone, but I guess your explanation still applies.

Ah, that must be a new setting! According to the text in the Watch app, it looks like you may be able to turn it off - it says that if you've got the app running as a complication, updates will still occur. Not sure if the updates will be any less frequent though.

I downloaded the updated Carrot Weather app earlier today and now it is missing from my watch apps (gone from the watch and the phone watch app). Any idea of how to solve this issue? I miss my complication.

(my iPad is having issues downloading this one app, too. I had 30+ updates and this is the only one that has issues on both devices)

I had this issue. Check the carrot app is downloaded to the iPhone in the watch store. Ensure it is clicked to download to watch. Then reset both the phone and the watch. Open carrot app on the phone. Go into settings and select the format you want to display on the watch and then hit synchronise and you should be good to go.

Hmm, if it's not showing up in your iPhone's Watch app, it sounds like you haven't installed watchOS 3 yet. This update requires watchOS 3 because it utilizes so many of the new features that Apple implemented.

My phone tells me that Watch OS3 isn't out.

I believe Apple's servers are just getting slammed at the moment, they originally released it about 5-6 hours ago. It might still be making its way through the servers in your area - maybe try a reboot of your phone to see if that kicks things loose? If not, it should become available shortly.

Thank you, I will give that a try.

I added a small complication in the Utility watch face to display the UV Index. In previous versions, and in the preview in the complication settings in the iPhone app, it shows the sunglasses icon alongside the numerical value. However, after rebooting my watch, it now only shows the sunglasses and no numerical value. I've tried force-quitting Carrot on both devices (phone and watch) and it doesn't seem to want to go back to showing the number... any thoughts?

Hmm, that's weird - didn't make any changes to any of the complications between the last seed and the official version. Can you post a screenshot?
