beside the fact that no iPad is coming this WWDC this case looks like piece of crap to me.

Sounds right to me. How do you release a new iOS without a new device to show it off on? Here's hoping that Apple pulls up the bus on this year's event!
New iPad, iPhone, Mac Pro, Macbook Air, Macbook Pro, and then some!

They still have iTV, iMac, and iPad mini to release in the fall....

True, but there is no new iOS to release. There will be betas but no live release for consumers.

Another Genius move to make sure Gumdrop gets a free dose of advertising right before a big event. I truly doubt he cares if an iPad comes out or not. Look at all this free marketing :)

yep. probably just made like 20 of them so they had something to ship to macrumors and other sites. Macrumors took the bait. Im sure other sites will aswell.

I think it's a pretty slick marketing move. I've never heard of Gumdrop, now many have. So the cases they make don't fit...oh well, they'll adjust, fix or melt em down and enjoy the free marketing buzz.

It's a risky move because now, they're on my list to never buy and I won't be recommending them to anybody else. I don't trust companies who does this.

If they're so desperate to do this, it tells me there's a bigger problem.

What makes the launch "unlikely"? It is not as though you can be sure, right MacRumors writer?

That case is stupid ugly.

We all know Apple couldn't organise a p^ss up in a brewery these days ... It's totally incredible that a company so large, with so much money, can't even bring a new product to market quick. Just shows how much beaurocracy exists at Apple if all those people can't deliver a product!

Meanwhile, I've been reading about the Galaxy S4 and HTC One mini ... Fear not, I'm sure we'll have a 5S by June next year!

They must know something we don't know. ;)

The cases are so cheap to make, like pennies, and they sell them for $20+, that they can afford to be wrong once in a while in the hopes of being right sometimes.

Exactly. They're gambling. Relatively little to lose, but being one of the first out of the gate, a lot to gain.

Or maybe he's using Marketing 101 and getting you to talk about his product for free. He's also gauging market demand by taking pre-orders. And finally he'll have a jump on the competition by being out there first.

Sounds pretty smart to me.

Making a case or creating a picture of one? Creating cases for the masses or singlw prototypes costing ten bucks to make? I wouldn't read too much into it.

Apple will release the iPad 5 when they damn well want, and not because some case vendor with a shrewd sense of marketing said so.

On the other hand, if the iPad Mini is cannibalizing the larger iPad, Apple may try to position the larger iPad as a "Pro" model, introducing it well ahead of the Mini. Other rumors support the idea of a two-step release--just nothing at WWDC.

I know this: I will be ordering an iPad 5 whenever it is released... without a Gumdrop case. Instead I'll get something from Monoprice, who quietly produces decent iPad cases dirt cheap.

Risky. Rumors are what they are, rumors. These aren't even that cheap and it's very likely the sizing will be slightly off between the "leaked" size and actual size. So early adopters run the risk of buying not-cheap-at-all cases that may or may not fit their new iPads that well.
