I just have an Incase neoprene sleeve that I bought years ago for a non-Macbook and it fits perfectly. :) using it I prefer naked but if I have you go out and about I use a sleeve it's a much safer option.

I have a black satin-touch Speck hard-case and I love it. I thought it might get annoying, but they're so minimalist and attractive, and I love the feel of it. As for debris, I will remove the case once every few months to wipe and keep things in order.

The one defect is that the "button" in the case that covers the battery level tester button on the left side is ever so slightly off so that the button is unusable :(. I don't really use this feature though, so it doesn't bother me that much. Anyone else have this issue?

^I'm able to press the battery indicator button on my 13" MBP with a Speck case and have the indicators light up.

Mine is always like this for some reason:

I've removed it and put it back on, same result. *shrug*

I don't have a case on my MacBook Pro, although I do keep it in a neoprene sleeve and a notebook bag when I am travelling to protect it.

I just picked up a Speck "satin" case not really for the protection, but for the looks. I keep my laptop pretty stationary, so the odds of anything happening to it are low, but I like to mix it up a bit - hence the plastic case. I'll probably take it off in a few months when I get bored of looking at it in the case.

If you're mobile with it, though, a case is a very good idea.

I avoid shell cases because they ruin the thermals of the MacBook Pro. Generally speaking, plastic doesn't conduct heat as well as any metal would.

I instead recommend slip covers because they protect your Mac during the critical time of transport from one place to the next. When in use, I figure you protect your Mac better than any case would.

And if you are bold enough to drink near your Mac, cover the keyboard.

That's a bunch of horse crap! I've got a half dozen Mac laptops. Two 11" airs, a 13" air, 13" MB, 15" and 17" MBPs...all covered by Spec shell cases (transparent)...we run an audio and video production company...I'm always running them hard, and I've NEVER had a heat issue. Essentially the same temps with or without the cases. Never had a "loose hinge"...never had a dust scratch? That really shouldn't happen...and again, I've NEVER seen it in real life experiences...I've switched to the Spec cases for all my portables...they don't add any noticeable weight...but the protection they offer (even sliding in and out of my bags and backpacks) is priceless.

But I'm also with the majority...hence the reason I've chosen the transparent cases. U still get to enjoy the beauty:)

Seriously, you really do not waste $50 on an incase shell. I got my two Macbook a case from a seller on eBay, the brand was iPearl and it is perfect for half the price.

I'd never put a case on my MBP or my iPad. These things were designed to be used and, yes, sometimes usage means a few scratches here and there, but two years in, my MBP is basically scratch free and I've had the pleasure of enjoying its beauty sans unsightly case.
