I have the white Mini and a nick in the aluminum band already. Not obvious at all because the metal underneath is at least close enough to the same color that you cant tell. Imagine a having a nick in the black model? Get out your Sharpie.
Yeah, that was partly why I did not want black or really any other color- I figured those would look hideous if/when you start getting nicks in the band. Also the bonus with the white is that fingerprints on the back glass don't really show.

White mini with leather case. I love the look but it's really uncomfortable. Now using it without case and screen protector.

I really want to go caseless... I did on my iPhone 5, but it got beat up pretty bad due to accidental drops and whatnot. I had a white silicone on my white iPhone 8, and it was awesome- I never dropped that phone because of the grip. I bought one for my iPhone mini, but it is attracting lint like crazy. I know it gets better with time, but with the white bezels on my iPhone 8 it was less noticeable. With the iPhone mini, and its no bezels, makes the lint very noticeable. I did buy AppleCare with the iPhone mini, but I am still torn. I have a saddle brown MagSafe wallet coming... so maybe that will help sway my decision. I had a silicone card holder that stuck on the back of my iPhone 5 which helped gripping it...

Cool review. Interesting points by the reviewer, but I’m a front pocket guy, and don’t/won’t use 2 hands to put my phone in my front pocket.

Anyway, I still don’t think it beats my Bellroy 3-card iPhone case (same thing, but not removable), but I like the reviewer’s Bellroy card case. Looks VERY slim. Maybe if I had one of those I’d consider going caseless! 😜

I dont see why people use case? we have to experience the design of every item by touching /holding.

with cases every phone seems like one.

Nah...not even with AppleCare+. I got up from the couch the other night and my phone went flying, putting a little nick in the bible-paper-thin red leather on my Apple case. I couldn’t care less about the glass; it’s the frame getting scuffed that I’m worried about. In 2010, the day I got my iPhone 4, it fell out of my pocket and into the innards of a reclining chair. Completely gouged that black stuff on the edge of the screen and Apple charged me $200 for a replacement. Really depends on how often you drop your phone

Does your clumsiness merit a free replacement?

AppleCare+ really doesn't cover that much. You're pretty much on your own, which is why I never buy Apple insurance.

I never understood comments I had seen in the past from people using Apple Care+ instead of a case.... that is like having a case that costs $150 per year! Maybe I am just a cheapskate, but I could never spend that much for coverage. That is $300 for two years- in the very unlikely case that something does happen to the phone, that will most likely be enough to pay for whatever repair needs to be done.

The way I have been doing it is I am going caseless but bought a really nice $40 leather sleeve/pouch that I found on Amazon. I have the phone in that sleeve any time I am going out of the house- so that is protecting it while it's in my jacket pocket, and if for some odd reason it falls out of my pocket- this pouch will completely protect it from any fall.

And at home when using the phone, I am super careful (almost up tight about it), so in the last 9 years of using smart phones I have never once dropped one- so I think I will be OK.

I do have a screen protector on it to protect from minor marks on the display, though.

Works on iPhones.

This only works for the silver stainless steel. Doesn’t even work on the blue or gold pro iphones because you will remove the thin PVD coating.

There is a difference between that and anodized aluminum. Which cannot be polished!

I misread your post, thought you meant the coating they added to the SS frames, thought you was implying it didn’t work on silver.

I prefer the aesthetic of being caseless so I always go with one that basically disappears. This has led me down the path with skins and ultra thin cases for years and for the 12 mini I've settled on one of these $8 TOZO cases. Skins look bad (I'm not the best at applying them) and the edges eventually peel up or start to get lint and dirt stuck to them.

The case is ultra thin. It protects the back and side from small abrasions without adding really anything to the phone. And if I tear it getting it on or off I just have a backup around since it was half the price of similar ones. The white case on the mint phone looks great, no significant color change, adding a nice frosty effect.
I’m also using similar cases on my iPhone for a few years. Like Peel and similar. But many of them I’m buying on Aliexpress because that quality is quite similar and I like better grip. Because glass on the back is sometimes more slippery for me.

I wish lol. It most certainly does not. If it did, it would be worth it. Edit: Apple upgraded AppleCare+ to AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss, but it isn’t cheap: https://mashable.com/article/applecare-plus-theft-and-loss-coverage/
It most certainly does. And it’s relatively cheap at $11 a month... Maybe it’s only in California?
