I got the Pad and Quill octavo, and I love it! The build quality is incredible, the smart cover functionality is great, the typing position could be better, but I really love this case overall. It looks and feels like a real book. This case is quite bulky, but it offers great protection. I wouldn't be scared to drop my iPad at least 4 feet with this case on it. If you want a cool look and great protection, this is the case for you. :)

Ordered this today.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004TM1JBE

Complete protection for the iPad from all sides
Black Napa leather exterior
Soft gray microfiber interior
iPad is put to sleep or awakened when case is opened or closed
Unique design allows case to double as a stand

From the pictures it looks like they didn't include an angle to type with.

How about this one? I just found it yesterday somewhere on these forums by chance and I was thinking about ordering one too. The reviews for the ipad 1 version were great. Seems to have everything you (and I) are looking for.

Yeah, seen that before (and your thread about it). It's certainly one of the better options... but hmm.. I'd have to see some video/macrumors reviews first. Not sure if I'm too crazy about how the case holds the iPad, but meh, we'll see.

I found a video review for the ipad 1 that shows it's pretty good. Works the same way as the Marware CEO Folio does for the ipad 1. I just wish Marware would get off their asses and finally release that case so I can go on living my life. lol

The thing I don't like about this style case is two-fold:

1) I really don't like the lip closure tab thingy. If I want to fold the cover back and lay the iPad down on the table to write (say in Noteshelf with a stylus), that lip closure tab thingy will hinder the iPad from lying flat.

2) This case (and those like it), to me, looks kind of silly with the corner pieces on two of the corners and a couple of tabs in the center. I'm not hugely concerned with having several viewing angles. A couple will work, which is why, for me, Sotie's original iPad case (by Chinao - the awesome brown one on the first page in this thread) is PERFECT. I'd buy it in a heartbeat, if they made it for the iPad 2. The iPad is surrounded almost 80% by a lip and I love that. No tabs - just a surround that you pop the iPad into. Love it.

Man, why am I being so picky with this case thing this time???

Do you have a pic of that Chinao case? Does it cover the bezel? I bought my case, I am just curious.

Cause it's such an awesome device and the cases have been rather lackluster so far since everyone is waiting for the best versions of the ipad 1 cases to finall release.

I'm gonna hold off on this case until Marware's CEO and Folio come out. This is a fall back option though. I'd also like to see the Vaja Agenda clone from Yoobao if and when they release it.

Chinao is making the Vaja clone, not Yoobao.

Pics are in post #25 of this thread. Remember, these pictures that I posted are Chinao's Vaja clone for the IPAD 1! There are no pictures available yet for their upcoming Vaja clone case for iPad 2. I just wanted to give everyone an idea what it will probably look like.

Ohh ok. I hope they will make the stiches same color as the case and add sleep/wake feature. It sits perfect covering almost all edges.

Thanks. I was going to see pics of the Chinao Slim for iPad 2. I like this case as it resembles the apple official iPad 1 case.

In my opinion it more resembles the Vaja Agenda case for iPad 1 than the official iPad 1 case. I had this case and sold it just before the iPad 2 was released.

Agenda case is up on Vaja's site for the iPad 2. It nice, but the Libretto is cheaper..I felt $160 was way too much but splurged anyway, $220 is just over the top.

Hah! Well played.

Damn that Vaja is the perfect case IMO for me....but definitely not for that price. Sheesh.

I couldn't agree more! It's just perfect! If there weren't a 35 day turn-around, I'd just put this case thing to rest and splurge! Come on Chinao!

I am sure most/some of us can afford that case BUT most of us see it as "why". We sometimes go overboard with our little gadgets but buying this would be going WAY overboard, imo.
