Joke's going to be on them and all the other strap manufacturers when the watch is released with a coded electronic strap lock that can disable the watch along with certified "Made for Apple Watch" program.

I can't imagine people thinking... I think I'm going to spend $1000 on a watch... and wreck it with a lame band. I would think these types of bands will not do well. Now if someone were to come along with high quality bands...

I see people with $1000 phones that they ruin with lame cases all the time.

I've even seen people ruin $30,000 cars with bumper stickers and window stickers and nasty, nasty seat covers.

Oh, lordy the things i've seen.

I fear that too and hope it doesn't happen. Apple touts the fashion aspect of its watch and the combination of looks available. What's the point of this customization when the majority can only afford one band/strap.

Allow the 3rd parties to be creative and let us truly personalize the watch as a fashion statement (as well as other great ideas like smart bands).

The watch is not even available for preorder and yet there are many accessories being made for it already. I think it's going to be a popular product.

Here's an idea. What about just normal solid colors? How about normal solid colored leather ones?

Yea basically I'm looking for the leather loop competion. You know....the copy cat version that's like 100 bucks cheaper.......

This is so 90's.. This is exactly what swatch watches used to look like when they took over the world back in 1990-something :)

Eh, people want to make funky personalized watch bands for their fancy smartwatch, go for it. Some of them will probably be pretty cool.

That cat band, however, may be the single ugliest thing intended for external wear on the human body I have ever seen.

I so want to see someone with a ten-grand gold Edition model and the cat band now...

People spend thousands on MacBooks and wreck it with stickers. Nothing new at all. Some people just don't have taste.

It'll upset Apple loyalists, but this is a great idea that'll help spread appeal of the watch. Love the tackiness of the cat band.

The ones shown in the article are hideous....but being able to customize is good.

Even if this site / options don't fit peoples' tastes....the after market for watch bands for this item will be huge.

I have no plans to buy an Apple Watch, but if I did....getting the entry choice of the sport does nothing for me; the one I like is the black steel band (whatever the proper term is) but they'd never get me for IIRC $1,099to have one. Replicas / other options of good quality will sell well, at a much more moderate price to satisfy examples like me.
