I thought this was going to be a thread about what genus the next generation Mac OS will be named after. I don't think it could be dog, assuming that it has to be a wild species (fox, coyote, dingo, wolf ...?)

But all the cats with OSX so far aren't exactly house pets....dogs for the most part are, with a few exceptions...

For an OS name, cats are fine with me, for a pet, I'll stick with the dog...

because they have catchier names? Imagine Mac OS X Cocker-spaniel. It doesn't have the same ring as Jaguar.

Not if you have a litter box.....

I enjoy going for walks/runs with my dog, throwing the ball or frisbee and swimming/boating/kayaking....not something you'd do with a cat.

I would certainly second or third the motion for Apple to use dogs as the code name for the next generation Mac OS after X.
