No difference in memory for me either. It stays around 45-50 on my 3G, which is what it's always been.

I also love that your dock is visible and accessible even when you're in a folder. All those iNav themes will be 10x better with this extension now.

Here's a screenshot of my Games folder.

There are some videos on youtube, too. I haven't found any in English and they're all painfully long. But.. if you really wanna check it out, it's there.

Thanks for the screenshot. I found one video on YouTube but like you said, it wasn't in English. Without seeing it in action, it's hard for me to see what the difference is between Categories and Categories SB. I'm not even sure that I want to use Categories anyway - it seems to be kind of a pain to have to place all of my apps into folders or whatever. I'll keep looking for some videos to see if any of these look enticing.

Here's one in English. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jO_nZfU57vc Kinda bugs me that these people waste so much time talking and hardly any time actually showing us the stuff they're talking about.

If you're not big on organizing your stuff into folders then I guess it wouldn't be worthwhile for you. I like having all my stuff organized so I don't have to swipe through 10 pages looking for a particular app, so it's perfect for me. The only differences are that it's faster, it scrolls vertically and now has the dock accessible at all times.

The difference is speed (dramatic difference) and the order in which the icons are displayed

Standard Categories, the icons start at top left and go down, then back to top, then down so on and so forth across the page.

In CategoriesSB, the icons start at top left and go across, then back to the left and across again, so on and so forth down the page.

I liked the Stacks idea but it found it tedious to set up, adding and removing icons one at a time, then having to hide the icons you have added etc. It should be a simple one step drag and drop and a re-spring to finish.

Orbit is fast and requires no set up and certainly beats scrolling through pages, however I think the page previews in Orbit could be larger to fill the available area if you have 6 or less pages of apps rather than the standard 12 page layout.

As already mentioned pogo planks looks king of fugly.

Have tried all three and so far i am liking stacks. Its uber fast, fluid, looks great, great performance and now you can have as many stacks as you want. Organizing still needs work but in the meantime, the easiest thing to do is just edit the plist files for each stack. You can actually also add that way as well. Not ideal but much much easier than deleting and redoing all the stacks.

Whats the consensus now?

I just went from iPhone 2G 2.2 to 3.1.2:

I tried these so far:

- Stacks - Fast
- Categories - Slow
- CategoriesSB - Still have to try..
- Overboard - Nice / Fast / Convenient
- Pogo - Kinda Funky.. Nice concept but execution could use tweaks

I wish each of these above organizers followed some standard XML formats for defining and we could use / edit them to make them and test one over another.

There's a new cydia app called CategoriesSB that integrates categories into the springboard, so now opening a folder is just as fast as opening a stack.

Finally! Perfection! :D So now, obviously, Categories wins my vote.

CategoriesSB works as claimed for me. Enjoy the immediate availability of the apps.

Not sure if this is exactly what you are looking for

Kirikae is a task manager which allows you to set favorites, it open with a double tap of home button, then go directly to any app on the phone which is in your favorites.

It is very quick, especially if you turn off the animations.

categoriesSB is so awesome and fast!! i think its way better than stacks.

you're able to add more apps in each folder. you may create as many folders as you want.

you'll need to download Categories and CategoriesSB ($0.99).

For those who have used Categories SB, anyone notice if this takes a toll on the amount of free memory available? I would imagine that it would increase the amount of memory tied up with the Springboard.

Currently I am using Orbit, which I like. I agree with the above post that said it would be nice if it could sort of zoom in on the pages. I only have 7 pages right now and so do not need to have the pages show up so small.

actually no. im getting a good amount of free memory. i have the 3gs and im getting constant 140-150mb free at idle. not sure if that helps.

Anyone on a 2G using it?
