I see quite a few people who already have cat profile pictures for this site. Wouldn't it be great if there were more? Like an army of cats? Join this thread, change your picture, and we will turn the tide (I will change mine when I actually comment, as purr protocol)! This would be especially hilarious for tomorrow when there is an insurgence of new members and they see a predominance of cats commenting on the news, making it look as though cats are interested in Macs, when they are of course much more interested in wireless mice. :D

What a charming idea for a thread.

If you want a seriously badass cat, I suggest that you check out 'Mogget' from the Abhorsen series written by Garth Nix.

Honestly, other animals are okay as well. I do love seagulls. And your charmingly cropped profile picture that precludes profanity. ;)
I shall check into / check out this book post haste! I'm working on establishing my own bad@$$ cat, honestly, so a point of reference is very welcome. Does this Mogget appear in the first book?
My first thought was of a anti-anxiety medicine and I was a bit confused. May your visit to this thread bear a minimum of sneezing and itching!

    Yes. Most of them, anyway.

Mogget is a snarky animal, - a badass cat - with the best lines in all of the books, a cat who is more than a cat. He appears in Sabriel, Lirael, Abhorsen, and graces the prequel - Clariel - as well.

He does not appear in The Creature In The Case (which takes place between the end of Abhorsen and Goldenhand, which has just been published) and has a cameo in Goldenhand.

But, if you like snark, cats, and a seriously scene-stealing perspective on life, this is a cat whose acquaintance you must make. Post haste.

Oh, and if you like fantasy as well, these are some of the best books around; they have superb world building, terrific tales, fantastic female protagonists and characters (and the guys are good, too), an amazing - entirely original, and internally coherent system of magic - and are really well written.

And two of the best animal characters I have ever come across in fiction - Mogget (the cat) and The Disreputable Dog.

I'm pretty sure I've heard of Mogget before while browsing TV Tropes. Thankfully it was far enough in the past that I no longer remember the specifics and will be able to endeavor into this series with a fresh mind. :)

Mogget speaks, - a talking cat - and has some of the best lines - by far - in the books. Even Garth Nix - the author - has been known to describe him as 'a scene stealer'. He is.

Ah! I've read this guy's '7th Tower' series on recommendation by another friend. Definitely some unique fantasy, and highly enjoyable. Am I correct in starting with 'Sabriel' for this particular series?

    Yes.

Start with 'Sabriel', then carry on with 'Lirael' and 'Abhorsen'. Those first three are a trilogy.

"The Creature In The Case" is a novella that takes place a few months after the conclusion of "Abhorsen", and "Goldenhand" takes matters up immediately after "The Creature In The Case" and overlaps slightly with it.

Meanwhile, "Clariel" is more of a prequel, but should be read before "Goldenhand".

To be honest, - while the 'Seventh Tower' - and the "Keys to the Kingdom" series (Mr Monday, Grim Tuesday etc) were very good, to my mind, the "Old Kingdom" series (i.e. the Abhorsen, - Sabriel et all) is by far the best thing he has written.

I also liked "The Confusion of Princes".

My brain left out the word 'hour' and I got really confused for a second. Relevant to online medicine:

    email legit pharamacy.jpg

Note the skillful insertion of forward-slashes to avoid filters, the 9 year copyright, and the throwaway email address. And of course, that beautiful parenthetical statement at the end which prompted me to take this screenshot.

In my days of using Windows, I used to be inundated with that sort of nonsense.

And, equally, found myself very busily engaged in an arms race with the filter to come up with - perhaps even anticipate - the use of forward slashes and other such dark devices in order to circumvent the filter, and hope to catch and cull such emails before (or after) they reached my inbox.

Was that with the Windows Mail app? I've not delved too deep into how to work that one. All I know is that my Gmail filters never seem to work, though I have the sneaking suspicion that this has something to do with it being an account that's managed (in the very barest sense of the word) by my old college. Outlook on the other hand just straight up gives you an option to block an address, but this doesn't work too well with ye olde Canadian Pharmacy and their 6,666 email accounts.
