my my. that magically priced iPad certainly is getting more expensive.
And it doesn't even have a real OS.
How much more of an expense does Apple expect consumers to shoulder??

When are you going to realize nobody cares about netbooks. At least not in here, so stop trollin. The iPad is going to make the netbook obsolete, give it some time.
Sweet Jesus, that's a rip-off! My whole Comcast bill each month is about $69. 47.95 for internet and $17.95 for the most basic cable (to keep my internet charge lower). Are you sure you couldn't be getting a better deal?

Ok - so I have to pay:
$70 for Comcast internet.
$48 for Comcast cable - no DVR. ( if I don't get the cable, Comcast ups internet stand-alone to $95, with taxes, it's almost the same amount )
$1000 for the laptop I watch Hulu on and stream to my TV
Now an extra
$500 minimum for an iPad - It would be more since I would get a 3g
$15 minimum per month for iPad 3g
$XX amount per month extra for Hulu
There has to be a better way to watch the shows I want, when I want, where I want.
butbutbutbutbut...
You reallyreallyreally need FLASH for um....
Games!That's it!Games
And Ads!
and a rapidly dwindling list of other super important things!
No, Basic Cable ($12.95/mo. on their website, although I think I'm paying $17.95 like GeekLawyer) is the basic package, non-promo pricing, bill total around $70 w/normal internet, modem rental, HD cable box rental. We have only the basic package. You must be getting a promo package. My wife had talked them into giving it to us for a while but they haven't been willing to give it to us again.

I can watch a lot of content from channels I don't get online directly from the channel's website for free, like South Park which is high definition and uncensored... vastly better than if I were getting Comedy Central. If they get their stuff on the iPad, along with other channels, that will rock. I would not pay for a Hulu subscription though. Just gimme ad-supported free content.
How can you have HD without the Digital Starter kit? They wouldn't allow us to have HD without it.
That's how I get my HD. Clear QAM. For $17.95, I get probably 10-12 HD channels. (It is variable - and they move around a lot. Annoying.)Most cable providers offer Clear QAM from Comcast. It gives the locals in HD without a digital box.
Seems like normal market dynamics to me. The price of ebooks is no longer fixed by a single entity (Amazon) and demand is widely expected to increase due to the iPad. The supply of talented authors is not elastic so it's natural that prices would go up. Having said that, I expect prices will fluctuate quite a bit over the next year or so as publishers try find a "sweet spot".So, in review: Since the iPad was announced, the price of ebooks are rising from $9.99 to $12-$14, and Hulu is likely to be subscription based.
Now, both those things were probably to happen over time (especially Hulu), but the iPad definitely helped to speed the increased pricing. Gee, thanks.
I feel the same way about TV shows I watch on my Comcast cable. But here they are - 18 minutes of ads in my 1 hour show.If I have to pay for Hulu they better not have any Adds during the movies. I would already paying them money and would NOT want to see the Adds.
